The sound of the water rushing over the rocks above was a peaceful sound, and it was accompanied by the chirps and tweets of birds in the trees. Eyelids close over blue orbs so to better hear my surroundings. The gurgling of a stream, the woodland talking as the wind tickled their leaves, and further off, the clatter of someone very noisily stumbling over the rocks. After that I was not by myself for very long. I had my moments rest and with the hottest part of the day passed the opportunity for company was more than welcome, depending on what kind of company that was. I was stretching along the spot I had settled on when a small but excited”Hello” came from behind me.
Upon turning my mahogany dipped dial towards the voice, orbs meet with the duo colored ones of a small golden and silver hued pup. A sort of excitement fills my belly at the sight of the youngster, who had to be experiencing her first summer by the looks of it. Her large head and paws made her look cartoonish, and yet she was expected. With her loud approach through the rocky terrain I was already expecting someone relatively young, though not this young. My tail begins to wag excitedly at the pup, but before I can reply to her greeting another wolf makes an appearance; a large crème colored brute who looked like a giant version of the babe. His teeth are a fearsome sight as he snarls at me and my tricolored body sinks to the ground with a now tucked tail, I remain ready to dart should he make a grab at me.
My eyes stay glued to the male, though a flattened ear swivels towards the little doll when she speaks once more. After that I watch as he lowers his lips and enters a less aggressive stance, but I still remain tentative. My belly brushes against the loose soil beneath me and my bushy tail slowly wags as I bring my attention back to his daughter who is called Solstice. My voice is kind and soft and a smile graces black lips.
"Hello Solstice, I’m Psyche"
Though the thought of playing with the pup was a tempting one, I stayed my ground. I wasn't so stupid to near another's child, especially when her father would be fully able to kill me if he should catch me. Blue eyes flicker between the two as I wait for either of them to do something.
