Dragonfly unfolded her tail from her paws as her date’s eyes gleamed with approval of her daring. A brighter, humored grin fit splendidly on her lips as she stood, being influenced by his excitable, active nature, to watch him display himself like a model before her. Dragonfly’s eyes flexed into playful skepticism as she openly observed the physical form that he gloatingly displayed. For a future mate, it was likely with his build that the pups would be lighter of build and quick. These were attractive qualities in wolves, and fortunately, he was also not so specialized as to have lost other abilities to a detrimental effect. Good breeding stock, by all means.
She assured him in flirtatious fact, “You are dashing.”
Then he pouted slightly, and she tilted her head - curious as to what that gesture was for?! But his next sentence cleared it and she was ashamed. It was true! Oh the unconscious biasses that ravaged her brain. Well, here she had the opportunity to walk into the found bias and eliminate it. She was glad to do so.
His name was surprising. Like hers, it was two part and also a name for another species of animal. They had so many subjects in common already! The excitement she felt was unprecedented, and her enthusiasm showed in her thorough engagement. Dragonfly dipped her head in acknowledgement to his name. When he claimed to be an tracker extraordinaire, her mind focused in on a fun adventure the two of them might take on their date, but she was quickly distracted by the flattery of her fur.
She retreated into her fur as her head lowered in bashful delight. Dragonfly did try to keep it fluffy and gleaming and her efforts had now all made her careful detail worth more than her enjoyment of brushing her fur. She shook her head against his guesses of her name and she replied honestly, “Gotta disappoint you there. I was named for my eyes; I am Dragonfly.”
She fluttered her lids over them a couple of time in jest as she continued, “Would you like to go hunting with me, Jackdaw?”
She wanted to see his proclaimed greatness at tracking and wanted a chance also for him to see the huntress he was with. Hopefully, he’d find her suggestion both a leisurely and productive activity as well; until they become close to their quarry they’d be able to chat along the way, and she wished to continue to familiarize him over the exercise and dinner.
