At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

Really, his pack was back to normal. After Zig's betrayal and subsequent exile, the pack had fallen into a comatose state. Their membership numbers had dropped, but everyone who was closest to him remained - Chenzii, Magic, Hellene, and Kong. Even his own daughter had gone missing. At first it had been for days at a time, weeks at a time... But then Blayre had stopped returning home. She had said that she wanted to inherit the pack, but that desire had apparently diminished when she had seen that family was not eternal. It was something that she should have already known, seeing as her birth parents had abandoned her at just a few hours old, but in truth she never knew them and did not remember their betrayal. But Zig's... Zig's had hurt her deep. Soon after, in Kalgalath's own depression, Kong had started to become absent in his presence as well. Kalgala knew that his best friend had a deep dark past of his own, that there were things that he did not share even with Kalgalath, and that those very secrets had something to do with the ebenero's disappearance. He had briefly resurfaced with the arrival of an old flame - Akina - but when her mate arrived, Kong had disappeared for good.

And now? Fast forwarding a few years had brought changes not only to Kalgalath's pack, but to Blossom Forest as a whole. Many of the packs were being overthrown. Whether that would be good or bad was yet to be seen... But Aurora? Aurora Borealis was stronger than it had been in many years. Their pack numbers had increased infinitely, and though their ranks were not yet full, mainly because the new members had not yet proven themselves, they were healthy, alive. That was, perhaps, best seen in the life that had recently been released from the new Queen's womb. His new mate had done better in her few short months as Queen than Zig had done in the entirety of her reign, and her pups signaled a guaranteed continuance of the pack remaining in Kalgalath's blood. Two strong, healthy sones had been born, nearly spitting images to their parents. Kalgalath could not be happier nor prouder, not only of his family, but of his pack and their continued growing. As a signal to a new era, Kalgalath and Sebring had implemented a Eric's of careers to supplement the current system of hierarchy. It provided the members a way in which to grow themselves by providing teachers for many different disciplines, and allowed for the transference of knowledge so that, Fenris forbid, the current teacher die, their students could continue on with their work.

The pack was running smoothly, and Kalgalath was at ease. Once again, as before, he felt confident enough in his pack to be able to spend time away from them and know that they would remain strong without him. It was a luxury that the King was currently taking advantage of. Mottled hairs, recently cleaned, shined and shimmered as the bright rays of the burning star above rained down upon them. each of his motions had the hairs moving in a wave to complement the movement, and though he had a thick pelt, it did not camouflage his muscling beneath. Though his pack could now boast a variety of specialties, most of them were not things that Kalgalath excelled in or cared to learn. Herbology was utterly lost on him, and he respected Hellene too much to have her suffer him and his inability to learn about plants. The art of subterfuge was another area in which he was incapable, for Kalgalath was too honest for such things, and too direct. Any problem that came upon him was faced directly with the cold, arctics stare that came from his facade. The Titan enjoyed his pups, but had no specific skill in entertaining them, and to digress, Kalgalath had one specialty - war. He was a regimented varg, and ran rounds around his border each morning and night, keeping his muscles trained with continual exercises to increased his dexterity and strength. It was the result of such exercises that showed now, proving him able in his skill.

Those muscles moved congruently with one another as his long limbs moved, his paws reaching far to bring him striding across the land. No longer did he need to practice control for the mud that had been dangerously coating the soil was dried, and left in its wake sure footing which his pads and claws were, even now, leaving impressions in. The Titan moved at a good clip, loping across the land with a single place in mind - his favorite place. It was where he had met many of his friends, and it was where he went for anything and everything. It was a good place to contemplate issues in, to enjoy life in, or even to simply nap. By now, the path was well ingrained in his mind, and he travelled it steadily, almost on autopilot. Still, as he arrived at the base of the cascades, he took care to look where he stepped ahead of time, for the footing was often treacherous, the rocks slick with wetted moss. Still it was with a steady paced that he ascended the incline, and once he reached the peak he immediately slipped into the eddy next to the shore, one of the places where the current abated and did not threaten to pull you over the edge of the cascades.

The water was cool, cold. With its gentle lapping, it soon had fully brushed out his pelt, and Kalgalath took to rubbing against the rocks that lined the shore to really scrub clean his fur. It was the first bath that he had taken since the first of winter had taken grip of the waters in Blossom Forest, making them frozen solid. It was so relieving, so relaxing to finally be able to be utterly and completely clean. With a smile upon his kissers, the King exited the water and shook, droplets flying off of him even as they continued to drip from his belly. Curling his haunches beneath him, the Titan lowered himself to the ground and laid flat out, basking in the rays of the sun and shut his eyes to start what would hopefully be a long and relaxing nap.
