The amusement that exists within Eden’s features in that moment is subtle, fleeting and yet hardly missed as my own lip lifts in the faintest of simpers in response to the jest that passes smoothly between us.
“Perhaps then I will retire here and too you, Eden. So you might deal with my presence often and daily.”
It is my own touch of amusement that taints the lyrics of my words now. Perhaps, one day, when I did chose to retire I would make good upon such a promise. The forest would always be my home, for I have known no other and yet, eventually I should like to explore other paths before it is I am grown so grey as Mother and Father and have known only the binds of high rank. This, of course, is not to say I do not value that which I have earned and mange within the forests. I owe much to Coza and his family and indeed I value greatly the life I have led so far. More so I simply think of the future, for I must- it is given to stop my mind wondering of things I care not to wonder off. Siren too though, I must think of, now that it is so we have become as mates, news I wish to share with Eden when the alliance has been discussed .
“It is some time off yet, I think.”
I nodded still, pausing a moment now to let the violet blue of my gaze drift from my apprentice to Alistair and back again, watching the boys submissive gesture. It is a pleasing thing, perhaps, to offer such respect and yet I think perhaps it may be so I may speak to him at a later time of the line between respect and too much submission. After all, a diplomat is a deal maker in the end, we must be respectful and yet be respected all at once, an Alpha is one thing but to allow him to perceive he is to high above you speaks little for the pack you represent- with Eden perhaps, the rules though are not the same and as such I see no need to correct him for now, merely allowing Eden to speak as he does. Asking Alistair of the alliance he wishes to make, my head simply nodded now.
“Go ahead, Alistair, what would you propose?”
With any other Alpha, surely, I would not permit such a thing and yet in the presence of Eden I see no need not to allow the boy to speak, to learn, to judge for himself what he might choose. The words Eden speaks next come in the Latina, my gaze inclined to my oldest of companions once more as I nod again.
“Perge quo cupis, et ego volui interrogare de hoc melius merebitur etiam respondeat.”
(Go ahead, he will learn best this way and I am curious of his answers too.)
I see no need to mention the boys deafness, perhaps Eden may notice, perhaps he will not- for it is not an easy thing to notice though if any are given to do so then surely it may be him. Eden has always seen what others do not.
