It was fall. The leaves were turning all sorts of colors, browns, yellows, oranges. As she walked beneath the trees she appreciated nature in a new sort of way, enjoying the way that the like filtered through the dying leaves and made a pattern on the forest floor. Eleanor was never a stop and smell the roses type, but even she had to admit that it was a noteworthy sight. It was nearly sunset, and she grew irritated with the prospect of spending another night alone in the wilds. It was not an easy life, the life of a loner- especially one without a mate or, really, any friends. It wasn't as if she wanted to surround herself with other souls but it did get lonely, especially when the nights began to grow chill.
A few seasons had passed since she had seen the strange female, but her thoughts had often drifted to her. After all they had had quite the interesting conversation and it had given Eleanor a lot to think about. She rejected any notion of being interested in the stranger beyond being acquaintances, but she couldn't help thinking about her. The stranger was, of course, the only one that knew Eleanor's secret, and she could only hope that she held no ill will towards her. The secret in the hands of an agitated stranger could be quite dangerous. Eleanor could only hope that they had left off on a positive note, and that she had given the female no reason to use this against her.
She paced through the forest before stopping in a small clearing, jumping up onto a fallen log and stretching herself out on top of it. Eleanor placed her head on her paws and closed her vibrant eyes, taking a moment to rest before nightfall. Perhaps tonight she would not sleep... then she would not have to deal with the prospect of sleeping alone in the chilly fall night.
