A Promise Was Made ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ He felt lost... Confused. Drizzt had left his brothers and sister, had left his father, in order to go and live with his mother. He had wanted to be with her so that she was not alone, so that she had family with her. At one point, he had met her sister, but it was only that once... And the rest of the time she had been alone. Though he was not terribly happy in Malignant Felicity, having no other pups to play with, he had been content enough, thinking it was his job to protect her sanity by providing his mere presence. But then she had begun to be absent from the den, and then absent from the pack. Drizzt had wandered, searching for her and along the way had met a few of the other pack members. Always he had heard of the evil in the hearts of the others from his mother, that he should stay within the den lest they eat him for a meal... But Elpis and Valkyrie had been perfectly kind, and neither of them had done so much as to raise a lip to him. But after they had left, he had once again been alone. And so here he was for the first time exploring the lands outside of his pack. He trotted down a well carved out path, nare's flaring as he inhaled deeply, tasting each of the scents carefully... But there was no trace of his mother. So consumed was he in finding his mother, that he did not realize that in the hours he had been traveling, he was far from his lands. He was far from home. He was, in a word lost. But no fear crossed his mind, for he had no reason to fear anything here. There was no immediate threat to his life... But instead he felt curious. Pinnae cranked forward, searching out the whispers of noise that crept into them. His head lifted, nares no longer following a path of smell, but now of vocals. Strangely covered lavenders peered ahead, trying to penetrate the darkness of the cavern that had at some point loomed up in front of him. He paused for but a moment before entering, walking in deep until there was hardly any light, only a dim beam to light his way. His pupil dilated, consuming almost all of his iris, before his gaze finally fell upon the ess whose whimpers had met him. Tiny paws brought him closer to her and gently he nudged her with his muzzle. "What is wrong, miss?" He could have asked other questions - Are you alright? Do you need help? Are you hurt? - but all of these closed questions had obvious answers and would only bring a simple, one worded answer - 'yes' or 'no'. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ |
