Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Ember
six – free of love – free of fate – gypsy

A gentle breeze drifted through the tree tops, causing the branches to sway and the leaves to rustle loudly. A strange colored wolf moved calmly through the forest, her silver eyes gazing up at the shrubbery above her. A soft smile spread across her lips and a soothing sigh left her mouth. It was a beautiful day! Ember Burning Bright had come to Moladion, though she did not yet know it. The young wolfess had been travelling the world ever since she was old enough to fend for herself. The forests were always her favorite place to be, but she enjoyed all walks of nature. Birds flew above her head and sang songs of joy and love in the spring afternoon. Not too far away, a doe and her baby grazed aimlessly on the fresh grass that was still wet with the winter thaw. Neither one of them noticed her as her coat allowed her to blend in with the shadows of the trees. Taking a moment, Ember simply stopped and watched them.

Mother and child worked in perfect unison as the two made their way through the forest. When Mom raised her head, Baby would kick and play around for he knew Mom was watching. When she put her head down to graze, he moved to suckle from her. Smiling, Ember watched them for a few minutes longer before continuing on her way. Most animals that she walked by either ignored her or kept a close eye open. She was a wolf, though she could have also been a large fox. It was unclear to them so they just continued on with their day in ignorance of the true danger she was. It didn’t bother her. She liked it when they ignored her. The hunt was a few hours off so she had no desire to spill any blood for her own meal. Instead, she liked to pretend she was friends with all the animals that called the forest home, though they thought of her as a bitter enemy.

Coming to a stream, Ember knelt down and lapped at the cool water, enjoying the feeling as it soothed her parched throat. Only now did she really look around at her surroundings and wonder what land she had come to now. Sniffing the air, she could tell that wolves lived around here. Their scent was everywhere, and yet, nowhere. Perhaps she would be able to meet one of the inhabitants of this fruitful land. Smiling at the thought, she returned to the stream and gasped as she saw two fish swimming side by side. Their scales gleamed in the sunlight and she couldn’t help but carefully follow them down stream as they made their yearly swim back to the ocean after dumping their eggs. Giggling, she didn’t even bother to think that someone might be watching her as she trotted along the shallow creek.
