The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Halina had found this last pack meeting to be perhaps the most amusing one yet. Normally they were boring, a necessary formal event designed to take stock of the pack members and divvy out rewards and punishments based on what they had been up to. Ranks were doled out, news was spread... But this past one had actually been intriguing. First there had been the amount of growth that both Lupin and Ambrosia had undergone in the short amount of time that she and Ygritte had been on vacation. Ambrosia was finally fully matured and Lupin had grown into a lanky teenager - at least his paws finally fit his body! But that was the least interesting of it all. the arrival of Macaria dragged in and shoved onto a heap on the ground by Grey Wind was mildly amusing, but once the petite femme rose to her paws, she seemed to be a wolf of a completely different azure. She was stronger mentally and sassiness had replaced the fear that had been so apparent before in her eyes and in the was her voice had trembled. And as two strangers - who both Grey Wind and Macaria seemed at least to recognize entered the scene, the puzzle pieces had at least somewhat come together.

The twins had alluded to their vampiric all nature, and with the blood on Macaria's pelt... The acute onset of such a drastic change in her... There could only be one explanation - she had been turned. Though rare, vampirism was something that she had seen along her travels, but she had never had much opportunity to interact with one for any extended length in time, save for a few sexual adventures that lasted throughout the night and forced Halina to sleep during the daytime. It had been a unique experience to be sure, and Halina Ickes her chops when she saw the vampires, but directed that sexual tension toward her mate, nipping at her and caressing along her chin, a purr rising in her throat. And then Grey Wind had pretty much concluded the pack meeting, and Halina had volunteered to run a training session - the reason for which was multifactorial. She had promised to train both Lupin and Ambrosia, but had waited until their training would not stunt their growth, which was no longer an issue. But it had also been a god long while since Halina had had a good fight, and she desperately wanted to stretch out her muscles which had taken forever to heal after Draven had attacked and poisoned her.

Part of her feared that the injuries she sustained would slow her down, for she had not pushed herself since... But there was only one way to figure it out, and that was to push herself to the limits.

Halina trotted away from the pack meeting and eased into a gently lope into the bowels of the pack, looking for a good plan to train. She had no desire to find even footing, for what fun would that provide? It gave you nothing to think about other than your opponent, which was rarely how war played out unless you were in a dual at Quarrels Clearing. No... Halina did not stop until she found a place with many fallen trees, some newly felled and other rotten. There were scattered boulders, and the ground was soft and mushy. Only scattered light poured through the treetops, making it difficult for eyes to adjust and focus. This would make fighting, dealing, training difficult... But it would be perfect for her purposes. Tilting her head back, she called to the pack and leaned into her mate, nuzzling against her while they waited.
