aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

He should not have been surprised when the first wolf to arrive was Chenzii - she was active in her role as Beta, and always came when he called to the pack. As soon as she arrived, he smiled and rose to greet her. As she rubbed against him, the titan leaned into her touch, ensuring that his scent - Aurora Borealis's scent - was upon her. 'Hello, Kal. How have you been?' The mottled grey brute shook out his pelt, loosening the flakes that had settled within it, before settling on his haunches once more. "I have been well, Chenzii. Just spending as much time as I can with my pups - you will be surprised when you see them, for they have grown so much in the past few weeks - they are nearly teenagers. They already get in plenty of trouble as pups, I cannot imagine what they will do when their hormones grow wild and drive them to even more reckless tasks. Just before winter they nearly got lost in one of the shore caves down by Leisure Lake, and then nearly drowned in the river as they tried to cross a storm swollen stream. I am glad only that there are two of them - for a few reasons honestly. I am glad there are not more of them, for they are a handful enough as it is. But two is a good number. They are the best of friends and look out for one another, confiding in each other and trusting each other. I wish that Aindreas and Adara and Rohan had that opportunity as pups, for I think they would each have benefitted from it. But the past cannot be changed, and we must look to the future." Kalgalath thought about telling her of Blayre's return to Aurora, but he had no desire to jinx her return and somehow push her away.

"I have a surprise for you, but should she show up she will announce herself. It will shock me sure just as much as..." His words halted as another form came first into his nares and he smiled instinctively, picking up his head to peer about. He and Sebring were so attuned to each other that he seemed always to be on the lookout for her, even if he was not expecting her company. But his sense of smell never lied, and her perfume grew stronger in his nares until finally her beautiful form came into view. Before he could greet her, she was nuzzling against his nape, his chest, and he tilted his head down to embrace her against him. A soft purr, deep and strong, rumbled in his chest. 'Hello my dear. It’s good to see you again Chenzii, how’ve you been doing?' Softly, he groomed the top of her head, before returning to conversation. "I had been just about to ask her the same question, love, but also had been about to tell her of a surprise for her. It will be a surprise for you, too, surely but in a different way. Have you seen the boys? This hunt is for them - they are nearly teenagers now and it is time for them to see their first hunt." As if expecting Vladimir and Castiel to arrive as soon as they were brought up in conversation, Kalgalath swept the tree line, but instead of two pups he saw a beautiful young lady. It took a moment to realize that it was Blayre, for in his mind he still associated her with being a teenager herself... But she wasn't. She was fully grown and had learned the terrors of the world on her own, without Kalgalath to protect her or support her. Briefly, Kalgalath thought of Aindreas, and how his son had had to grow up similar to how Blayre had. He was thankful now, that his two youngest pups had two parents and a home, and hoped that they would not leave home. That he would never give them a reason to leave home.

For Kalgalath blamed himself for Blayre's absence - it was only logical. She had left right after Kalgalath and Zig had had their big blowout, and Kalgalath had challenged her, forcing her to either fight him for the throne or to get out Aurora, and never come back. She had left without a word, without a fight... And then, Blayre had left too.

And looking at her now, he saw the anxiety, the pain behind her eyes. She was stoic - whereas in younger years she had been openly emotional, all of her thoughts spoken right away - and Kalgalath hurt for her. "Blayre." He called to her softly, beckoning her closer with a gesture of his head. For she had thought it good enough to sit on the outskirts, a mere dip of her head in greeting. If she came closer, he would get up and greet her, but if she remained where she was, he would go to her. Either way, he nuzzled against her head softly, as if she was delicate. As if she would break. As if she would take flight and run again. "Sweetheart, I'm so glad you came." He turned to Sebring, wondering out she would take Blayre's return, for he had not seen Sebring since Blayre had arrived.
