Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

He was pacing restlessly when the call came from Zelda. He knew the night would be coming soon but he didn't know when. He was anxious. He hadn't found someone worthy of his skills since coming back to Moladian and his dark passenger wanted blood. He needed to cut loose. The hunt with Talien helped but it wasn't enough. It wasn't wolf blood. It was just a rabbit. His dark passenger wanted more, needed more. He knew that helping protect the pack and taking out some predators would help. It might not completely alleviate the torture in his mind but it would help at least. They would fight back. They would make it a challenge. But only time would tell if it was enough. He wondered how he would do working with others. It was different with Talien. They somehow worked together as naturally as if they had done it all their lives. It was like she could read his mind at times, like she already knew where he was going to be and when. He didn't know if he would have that same understanding with his pack mates. He wanted to belong. He wanted to show everyone that he was good. In a way, he wanted to prove Tuari right, prove that he wasn't a monster.

He made his way toward the call at a gentle lope. He wanted to get there but he knew nothing would be done until everyone was present and he kind of wanted to see everyone else arriving. He wanted to know who he would be working with. Zelda was the first wolf he saw and he dipped his head to her in respect and greeting, listening as she started to speak. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she felt guilty and he figured it was because she wasn't coming and knew they were going to be doing something dangerous. He wanted her safe and knew that here would be the best place for her. Not that he considered her a hindrence or anything. He just didn't want to see her get hurt. Everyone would be focused on keeping her safe and they would probably all suffer for it. They needed to be focused on the hunt so he knew where she was coming from. She seemed to be waiting for them to leave, wanting to see them off and he offered her a reassuring smile. He would do his best to protect the others and to see them all back home. He saw the four wolves all come in together. They had to be best friends or brothers by the way they moved almost in sync. It was intriguing to watch.

They sat around Zelda, seemingly very comfortable in her presence. They all threw cheers into the mix when she gave her pep talk before they all stood up as if the same wolf and moved out to find trails. Dexter watched them with curiosity. They would already be wired to work together and between the four of them, they would probably be able to take down a predator by themselves. He was almost intimidated by the companionship they shared, but he knew his expertise would come in handy too. There was only one wolf going along that he would be worrying about the whole time so unbeknownst to her, he planned on staying close. He didn't doubt Tuari's skills in battle. She was strong and agile and fast, all things needed to take on this task. He had been concerned when she'd spoken up about going though because unlike most of the other wolves, she couldn't call out for help if she got in over her head or got hurt. She would be prey to the whims of fate if anything went wrong and he hated that for her. He knew how to read her body language so he planned on working with her to hunt something down if only to make sure nothing happened to her. He didn't want Tuari to think he thought her incapable or anything.

Far from it. He knew she could climb trees and run circles around him. But he could at least keep an eye on her. When he saw Tuari arrive to the meeting, he gave her a return smile and even a playful wink, wanting her to go into this hunt confident and knowing that they could succeed. Once she was up and moving, he straightened up himself and started after her, moving up to nudge her shoulder playfully with his own as they moved toward the borders.

"You ready for this?"

He couldn't help but ask, watching for her reaction as they went over the borders and into the unknown.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
