Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

When Remington wasn't spending her time wandering about Spirane, she could often be found sitting on a high ledge (much to her mother's distress) looking out across Moladion. The first time she'd gotten high enough to see out to that sparking infinity beyond the edges of the world, she'd run back to the den bursting with questions. And when her parents had chuckled and told her all of that was water - more specifically, the ocean - she'd been absolutely enraptured. She'd begged her daddy to take her there, and probably would have succeeded if Haven hadn't interceded and insisted they wait until the whole family could make the trip together. But after one too many an afternoon gazing longingly at the distant sparkle of the big water, Remi had...taken matters into her own paws.

She'd gone down the mountainside and into the foothills, pausing momentarily at the borders. Not only was she way farther away from the den than she was supposed to go - she was considering leaving the pack lands entirely. Bright blue eyes glanced back over her shoulder momentarily, but she could not deny her desire to wander. It was almost as if some extrinsic force lifted her paws and drove her across the safety of the pack lines into the unknown of the freelands. Almost immediately Remi felt like she had sprouted wings. Giggling excitedly, she took off, leaping and dancing away from Spirane. The mountains were her home, but there was so much world out there to explore! In a matter of months she would be a year old, and she'd never seen what was beyond her metaphorical doorstep. No more - that changed today.

Running along, the leggy child pointed her nose in the direction she figured would get her to the ocean and just went. After a while she got a bit tired and had to slow down. Shouldn't she be there by now? Only having explored the side of the mountain where her family lived, she didn't have a great concept of distance yet. Eventually, however, she found herself following a river - little water would lead to big water, right? Determined as ever, she kept going, and it paid off when she spotted it - big water! It sparkled and danced under the autumn sun and Remi could hardly contain her excitement. She pushed herself into a sprint once more, and finally found herself on the banks of the water.

She danced at the water's edge, so excited she wasn't sure what to do! But then she looked up and around and realized something wasn't quite right. She could see the other side! This wasn't the ocean - this was the lake. Her features fell for a moment, disappointed that she hadn't gotten where she'd wanted to go. An ear flicked at the sound of splashing, and she looked up to see another puppy playing in the water. Immediately she brightened back up - someone new! Someone to play with! She set off around the bend of the lake, eager to reach the other pup and join in his fun.

So eager was the girl that she very nearly ran smack into Noctis - her attention focused more on the pup in the water than on the ground she was running along. At the last moment she looked straight ahead and saw him, and she skidded to a stop just before reaching him. Her features never faltered, tongue lolling forth from her mouth. "Woops! My bad. You coming?" she invited, before turning and bounding into the waters to join the boy who was already laughing and making fun for himself. Water sprayed up around her, and she found herself not quite so disappointed at having found the lake instead of the ocean this day.
