AS Faolan had expected, Mugen still lay sprawled out on his back at the entrance to the den. A vicious smirk danced across her blackened lips as she stops just before him, fierce eyes of brilliant teal glaring down at his languid form. A snort rolls from her lips as she cocks her head to the side, doing her best to give him a hard judgmental look despite the smile that twitches at the corners of her lips. "I suppose I should be grateful that you actually made it out of the den." she teases taking a step forward to nudge him with her paw. "I get up early to get things accomplished... I cant say the same for you." she says with a laugh, reaching forward to nip his tattered ear playfully, her white tipped tail wagging.
She had all intentions of getting him up and chasing after her down the pink sandy beaches below... that is, until the pain set in.
A sharp breath grips her as the pain washes across her, causing her to stumble back. Confusion sets in as she takes a step back and fixes a confused look upon Mugen's lazing form. What was that? It had come from no where, the pain... excruciating and beyond anything she had ever felt before.... but it had passed.
"come on, get up Mugen... we have some things we need to discuss." she begins again but is cut short again. Once more the pain grips her, this time, fiercer than before. Claws dig into the earth as she pushes past him and collapses onto the den floor in a writhing pile of red and black fur. Her blackened lips part now as pink tongue lulls from her lips in quick panting breaths. For the time, her conversation with Mugen is forgotten as mother nature took control of her body now and urged her to push.
The birthing process takes several hours and a lot of sweat and pushing. She is weary and shaking when finally the large pup is pushed from her. Pain grips her as its feet tear at her as it is born. Ivory fangs clench together as she fights back the whimper of pain that threatens to fall from her lips. No, she would not cry out... not with Mugen nearby, no doubt still half asleep outside the den but still, she was too proud to let him see her at her weakest.
The red pup, slick still with his birth sac and blood grunts and whines, his closed eyes searching and desperate to feel the warmth of her side that it instinctively knew was nearby.
Carefully she gingerly stretches forward, her ivory fangs carefully scooping the pup up into her jaws before planting it tentatively between her forepaws where she does her best to ignore the pain and tearing by licking clean the tiny pup between her protective forelegs. Affection and adoration dances in her eyes as she gazes down at the pup, so clearly resembling her coloration and yet the striping along his muzzle was a clear indicator as to who the father was if ever the question arose. "Rougaru..." She murmurs to him as the tiny creature slowly blinks his eyes up at her, giving her the first look into the misty haze that covers his right eye. A single brow cocks in concern as she eyes the pup closer, dipping her ashen muzzle to touch his tiny maw, allowing her an even closer and more exact look into his squinting eyes. Perhaps she had imagined it, concern for a newborn can do that to new mothers or so she thought but no... it was there. His left eye was the brilliant blue not unlike her own but unlike hers, there is a brilliant yellow starburst near his pupil that makes his eyes appear almost green at first glance. But his other eye, the brilliant color is indeed misted and hazed by a film of white.
She had never seen blindness in a wolf before, much less a pup so young. Fear grips her now as she gently guides the squirming child close to her swollen teat now before letting her resounding voice ring from inside the den, calling for Mugen and for the pack healer who might be better able to explain this abnormality to her....
