aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

I Feel Like Jekyll and Hyde

Anger turned the brute’s vision red as he focused on the female in front of him. It was clear that she was not going to willingly come with him as planned, and that some physical action was going to be needed for things to be set in motion. Still ignoring the younger male near him, he approached Seraphina, stifling an annoyed growl that wanted to come out as he reached out to grasp her neck and drag her forward. It took the taller brute by complete surprise when Vladimir went after him. Vladimir may be smaller, but his momentum and the unexpectedness of it threw Kael off, and he stumbled to the right as Vladimir pushed into his left shoulder before quickly moving away. He didn’t even notice that the other brute managed to get Seraphina out of the way, his only thoughts on destroying the one that was in his way now. The grey brute spoke then, but Vladimir barely heard the words nevermind understand them. He didn’t know what a Tempest was, and he didn’t care. Whatever Vladimir thought he was, Kael was better.

His brown orbs turned to glare at Vladimir, staring the unexperienced one down, daring him to make a move. The pup then lunged forward, his attack obviously going for his jugular. Something only a fool would do right away. With a smirk, Kael skidded to the side, knowing it would be easy to evade the attack when it was so obvious. But once more the Aurora prince surprised him. What he thought was going to be an easy defensive move turned out to be the beginning of his downfall. Vladimir moved right as Kael did, making it so he could reach his hind limb, his jaws wrapping around to snap at the joint. Kael continued to make mistakes as he tried jerking away, but it ended in him helping Vladimir dislocate his patella. As the red and white wolf turned to snap at the other brute, both in anger and pain, his teeth hit only empty air as the smaller varg was faster than he was.

And so Kael was down a limb. He kept the injured stilt off the ground, keeping it tight to his bodice to reduce further injury to it. It made his balance funny and he was much slower now. As he was still turned to face the other brute and make his own attack, Vladimir was already on him once more. New pain ripped through the brute, but this time on his back. Even though the other brute was younger it was clear that he had been trained well. And for an instant Kael wondered if he was in trouble. He felt dagger tear into his flesh and muscle, and he turned his head to try and lodge Vladimir off of him. Somehow the younger brute was in such a position that Kael could not reach him with his own jaws, and the more he went from side to side, the more he felt the teeth dig into his spinal area. Instinct told him he needed to get the brute off now or else he would not last much longer. Hoping for once to surprise the other male, he flipped onto his side and rolled to his back, hoping to lodge Vladimir off where his own teeth had failed to do so. He hoped to catch him off guard enough to be able to turn and then sink his own teeth in. He couldn’t tell where Vladimir had ended up, so if he didn’t immediately reach any part of him he would instead scramble back to his paws, keeping his injured leg up once more.

Kael was now panting heavily, pain throbbing in his limb and back as he felt the blood fall down his side where the other brute’s daggers had dug deep. He could feel the muscles in his back flinch and spasm with pain, making him stumble even more as his balance was already compromised. All he could feel was anger. There was no ration left in him as he focused on making Vladimir hurt as he was hurt. Instead of trying to make a strategic move as the other prince had done, he merely lunged, a snarl on his features. He was not anticipating how slow he would move with his injured limb and back, but had thought he would be able to move quickly still as he was used to. Vladimir would literally have to just stand still for him to land a blow with his stumbling, but instead of yielding and leaving, he continued his futile attempts, anger the only thing powering through him. Kael’s orbs tried to watch the other male to see where he would go and to try and cut him off with tooth and claw. But his vision was blurring as he continued to lose blood, and he was too stubborn to admit it was only a matter of time until Vladimir landed a deadly blow.
