She breathes in deeply as she finally comes ashore. It’s been so long since she last set foot on the islands, the place she has and will always consider home. She doesn’t know how she’s going to leave again even though she’d promised her uncle that she’d return to him after she’d scoped the place out.
It had been so hard for him and her mother to stay after the deaths of their parents. She’d only truly understood that feeling when her mother died. Falcon had been beside himself, and if Avalon hadn’t been there, the stallion probably would have thrown himself off the same cliff that Pandora had fallen from.
She shakes her head, still unsure whether she’d made the right decision in leaving her uncle behind. Falcon hadn’t been convinced that he could return to his old home without having a breakdown, so he’d sent Avalon ahead. Now that she’s returned, the lightly speckled mare feels something inside her click into place. This is what her life has been missing since her mother’s death.
She laughs joyously and bucks as she sprints inward, not paying attention to anything except the salty droplets flying off her dark pelt. She’d always felt the deep ache that came with the absence of her childhood home and she still can’t believe how good it feels to be back. She may have to return to Falcon just to drag him back here kicking and screaming. It would be easy enough to stay well away from Luthien.
She comes to a sudden halt, not entirely sure how far she’d run. She looks around, blue eyes suddenly wary. She tries to get her bearings, wondering where exactly she’d ended up.
