The only thing he could think about was the cold. It stole his breath from his lungs and sent his body into violent convulsions. Winter would be coming early to Asteraia and soon snow would fall from the sky. For one as sick as he, it would not take long for the harsh season to claim his life. This would make the second winter in his life that would be a struggle to live through. Memories of his first winter, right after the death of his parents, that had almost taken him. If not for Ame and his family, Halcyon knew he would have died that year. Six years later, he was once again fighting for his right to live until spring.
A sudden warmth was next to him and his body sapped away the heat greedily as it tried to store what it could. Turning, he could tell the wolf next to him was familiar in some way, but he could not quite place her name. It frustrated him and he would have growled in annoyance if not for the situation. Unable to speak, he simply allowed the other to warm him until the shakes finally calmed and he could concentrate on his voice. "T-t-thank you. Please, help m-m-me ins-side."
It took all his renewed strength to lift his body up on trembling legs and wobble into the den. He was sure his companion would aid him however he needed, if only to keep him upright as he stumbled back inside. Once they were in from the cold, Halcyon all but collapsed to the floor. Taking a moment to regain himself, he gazed up at his hero and offered a weak smile. He wished he could remember her name, but the fog in his head kept it hidden. "Thank you, again, my friend. I apologize to have to trouble you like this." That simple sentence had taken a lot out of the pathetic alpha and he was left panting as he waited for the other to speak.
