Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

Zelda was certain that she was unhappy. After all her whole life was in shambles and it was still questionable if she would be able to live without the help of others. She, for now, had choices though. Zelda was willing to forgive if she could show she could change. Zelda wouldn’t ask her to regret what she did, but perhaps apologize, to Tithe at the very least. Iromar…. In Zelda’s opinion, got their fair share of ‘justice’ and needed no more. Tithe though, he required some explanation. In time though, Zelda would see if all her efforts would be worth it. For she could, and would, heal her and then leave her for the beasts of the world to devour her, with no help from a pack, that would accept her knowing what she did, to help her.

Her ears twitched at the sound of the wolfess’ scoff at first before telling Zelda to do as she wanted. So she entered, though the rest of her words certainly brought a little more hope to the wolfess as she settled herself down on the fringes of Starfall’s den, tail wrapping around her cold paws though she frowned a bit at the self deprecating words she said about herself. Though at the very least she agreed to some water. She was about to reply when the wolfess sighed, then paused finally giving out a slightly begrudging thank you to her which brought a smile to return to the wolfess’ narrow muzzle. ”After we talk then, I will fetch you some. Think nothing of it.” Zelda promised the wolfess with a little flick of her tail.

She wanted to build rapport if nothing else for now, by Arace’s actions alone here, Zelda didn’t feel she was a bad wolfess, just perhaps made some life choices that maybe Zelda could never do. Her mind went to Hyrule. Assassins. They meant different things to different wolves. To Hyrule, the angels, Assassins were wolves who killed demons, cannibals, to her it seemed it didn’t matter, good or bad… Zelda wondered more about her, her past. For a wolf’s past said a lot about who and what they were and what they would do next.

For now though Zelda wanted to see what she could figure out about the problem at hand, or start too. SHe wouldn’t push for now, she knew that maybe it might take time for Arace to maybe trust her, or show her true colors. Right now Zelda was having no regrets taking the wolfess in, Tithe and the other’s worries she felt might have been justified, warranted even, but Zelda thought for now it was okay. She wouldn’t force Tithe to be around, or be friends with her, even guard her if he didn’t want to. She wasn’t that type of wolf and understood completely if he wanted to avoid her. After all, it only made sense.

Still, Zelda could tell her words confused Arace a bit. Telling her she wasn’t a prisoner, not unless she wanted to be. It seemed to almost puzzle her some degree, which soon she voiced to the auburn wolfess. Zelda considered her words, though she only smiled and offered a strange sheepish shrug, ”You aren’t the only one.” she said almost cheerily with a little laugh despite the cynicism of her look and her tones. Though she continued stating that she had attacked Tithe, that Iromar condemned her. ”I’m not saying I agreed with what you did. I abhor violence as usually there are far better ways to be spending our time than shedding the blood of others. While I know you are not completely innocent of your crime, you are not completely guilty either. I asked Pine to look into the why you did it, she ignored me, I have a better idea now that I think I understand you more.” After all already Arace had spoken of debts to be paid, surely she owed a ‘debt’ to the one who had taken her from her prison in Taviora. ”But you are right, usually I would side with wolves that I have alliances and friendships with. However, I can’t agree with how she handled this in the slightest. As I said, I rather abhor unnecessary bloodshed.”

It was then that Arace’s eyes narrowed upon her, that Zelda asked her to tell the truth of what happened. She watched the female, neutral expression upon her visage and taking careful attention to what she was saying, what she could mean by those words. Zelda allowed silence to fall between them, pondering her words, what she was saying. ”Then pay your debt to me now. Work for Taviora. I saved your life when everyone thought it was wrong, but Starfall. Allow me the chance to give your life new purpose. If you are so honor bound you will not give up the name of the one who actually deserved to share in your punishment when you say you were simply paying a debt, fine, I understand, but let me help you prove those who think you are a common murderer wrong. Show me more than that, show me more of the wolfess I am seeing now. Honor bound, loyal.” She knew many would be angry at what she was offering, but it was not the first, nor the last time a Tavioran ruler offered mercy where others wouldn’t have. It wasn’t the first time her family had taken a risk in allowing a supposed wolf with a bad reputation into their fold. Roman, Tithe, Bones… There were a few that were given the chance to show redemption, even if some didn’t think they deserved it, Zelda did.

”While I do abhor unnecessary violence there will be a time when I will have no choice but to pull my daggers from behind my lips, the swords from behind the shields. Someone very close to me once told me sometimes you had to do things… he even killed someone himself, he didn't enjoy it, but he had to to protect himself, his family. If you had room to include Taviora in that creed of yours, I would welcome you.” She paused for a moment, her face was serious, her eyes not leaving Arace, though then there was almost a flicker of mischief behind her eyes for a second as she then said, ”Though, that would mean your promise of not harming our own until you're healed would go on past your healing time.” She said though there was a little humor to her tones. Though the idea that maybe Arace could lie to her that she would serve and be loyal Zelda thought it was worth the risk. Again, while she disliked violence, being betrayed when she gave Arace so much would prove to Zelda she couldn’t change, that darkness was all she had and would accept. She was lost. Then… well those same swords and daggers they would come out. Zelda believed in second chances, but thirds?

Well, time would tell.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
