Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

More than once Alyse had considered turning North again. A time or two she'd even taken a few halting steps in the direction of everything she knew. Then the thought of giving up the grand, messy adventure that was life overwhelmed her and turned her South once more. She wasn't stupid enough to think that she was going to skate through this adventure but she wanted the mess and the excitement and the uncertainty. She wanted something...else.

Life as perfect little princess of the North was NOT what she wanted. It had been what she was prepared to be. Until she'd been spirited away in the night by a trio of crude and smelly wolves from a rival clan, the world outside the boundaries of her pack only existed in her mind and the stories of her Auntie Aryna. She was out in the world now and it was cold and wet and dangerous and she was hungry...but she was in love with it all!

Her stomach growled as she kept up a steady pace across the tundra. In the distance she could see a hazy green mass and it called to her. As she drew closer the blowing snow gave way to rocky soil and then softer, darker soil. Stopping several yards away from the forest that was in the grips of a season change, she just stared, the cold northern winds stinging her eyes but she refused to blink.

"It's magic! It has to be. How else could the trees be so large?" Her stomach growled again. She'd not had any luck in the past day. She knew the breeding seasons of all the animals that called the lands around her pack home, she knew their migration patters and likely places for them to hide. She knew the mechanics of hunting. None of that helped her catch even a rodent to snack on. But she was determined. Maybe the forest would be more fruitful.

Finally blinking, her heart swelled when the forest was still there and she pressed forward, lips curled in a near constant smile as she looked around. It was so very different from the land she'd come from, even as spring was shaking loose the grasp of winter. The trees were massive and the ground was soft.

Distracted from her hunger by the sights around her, Alyse trotted over to a moss covered rock and sniffed at it curiously before licking it experimentally. Definitely not for eating but still interesting. She continued on in this manner for a time, scampering from one thing to the next, inspecting it and exclaiming over this or that. That was when she spotted an early spring flower and with an excited bounce to her step, practically pranced up on gold-tipped paws and flopped down on the ground so that she was level with the little purple bud, paws rested on her paws before her as she stared. "Hello there little one."
