still i s a yUntil now there had always been a cocoon of warmth, ever present and constant in her seemingly trivial little life. To this world she was unborn, but not dead. She would mean something to someone when she was borne unto this earth. She did not know who it would be, or maybe who they would be. Her parents – the beings held accountable for her creation, survival, and upbringing. And she would not be alone in those endeavors to grow and mature into an adult. She was surrounded by those who would share her pain and suffering in the wake of mistakes and stupid decisions, but they would also share in her joy and the utter happiness she would find in this new life outside of the womb. They all would. Mother, father, brothers and sister all of them finally united together in the same space. The pups would become fully conscious and aware of their new world, they would slowly learn about it through their senses. First through smell, then their sight and sound would come to them, and of course tangibility and touch. The world was in a process of rebirth, just as new lives were being brought into this world elsewhere in the land of Blossom Forest. This land they would all come home.
And maybe one day they run into each other.
She wondered, as she floated in that cocooning warmth, whether there was a pup being borne that would one day share her life with her. Would her mate be borne in this season? Would her best friend be borne now? Who would she be closest to in her family? Would their family be complete? Would they be safe and sheltered in a packland? What kind of life would they live together? Would they grow apart? Would there be more children after them? There was an abundance of questions aimlessly floating through, but none of these answers were within her tangible grass and some would not be answered until she lived this life to completion. One day she would know
And that ’one day’ was coming right now.
A tremendous pressure built around her and pushed her and her siblings together. She kicked out from between her two brothers, escaping that unbearable compression that had suddenly come upon them. But it didn’t really stop, she felt them slip away from her and suddenly the contraction released and only she and her sister remained there. She before her sibling. And then it came back with a vengeance, powerful and suffocating. The walls that had once held her safe were now in the process of expulsing her from within. She kicked, she fought, but she could not overpower them, she was rendered helpless to the current of contraction pushing her forward towards oblivion. She was covered in a warm liquid as her body collapsed to the cold, hard ground from her mother’s body. She was taken from that warm liquid pool of blood, but a rough warmth canvassed her bodice and she nestled towards a teat. Her mouth suckling against that mammary gland. A silky, warmth flowed through her, helping to fight away the cooled air brushing against her wetted fur. She could not hear nor see this new world around her, but she found herself comforted by this mother figure and the food which she provided. A small whimper rose out of her as she let go of the source and nestled up close to the warmth of her mother’s stomach, blissfully unaware of anything that was going on. Only slightly disturbed by the jostling of her mother’s bodice, causing her to curl closer to her siblings.
