The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Jumping forward, she snatched the ear out of the air just before it would have hit the ground. Her body coiled with the momentum of her forward movement, knowing the dimensions of her cave well enough to keep from smashing headlong into the wall. She spun and once more flung the ear up and away from her, and then a flash of silver and black rushed forward, leaping into her cavern and grabbing the ear clean out of the air. Unable to completely stop her body's forward movement, she slid underneath him as he leapt, and then spun back to face him as his paws met the stone floor once more.

His arrival had taken her by surprise; the gale force winds that howled outside had masked his approach, and she had been so fixated on her toy that she'd not noticed him as he had investigated the entrance to her hole in the ground. Raum's lips lifted horizontally, teeth exposed in a display of moderate aggression. For a moment her entire body stiffened. Who was he, to come into her cave and steal one a piece of her collection? Her nostrils flared, uncertain of herself in that moment, for it was typically she who took other wolves by surprise, not the other way around. He exuded power and confidence, but she was not left caught off guard for long. "Hnn?" she questioningly intoned.

Bright green eyes looked him up and down. She noticed the overwhelming black of his body. A pleasing thing. The color of darkness appealed to her so, for she was perfection - an ideal that had been ingrained in her since birth which she had never lost - and to see it reflected in another was such a rarity in these lands overrun with putrid colored canines. But his was tainted. Unseemly silver coated his snout and cheeks, touched the top of his head, spoiled his hind legs. Part of her wanted to rip the very silver from him, as he'd ripped the ear from the air.

Lunging forward, she made to grab at the ear, keen to reclaim her possession. But at the last second she could not help but try to nip at his face, to rid him of that horrid color. To make him perfect, like her. Dancing back, she retreated for only a moment before driving towards his hind legs, head dipping down to nudge at one of his hind limbs. But this was no stain, no imperfection that could be washed away. Snorting with dissatisfaction, she stood tall once more, turning towards his head again. "Is mine," she said, nosing towards the ear he held, then repeated, "Is mine." The stiffness of her initial reception of him had begun to dissipate, forgotten as easily as the storm that rolled past them overhead, sending more dirt down through the crevice in the ceiling.
