When solid ground grows soft with emerald moss and rivulets of black mud, and coffee-colored water pours slowly around the trunks of densely carpeted trees, this marks the beginning of Laod Mor: the swamp of Blossom Forest. Time itself seems to slow to a soporific crawl . . . the humid jungle air grows stagnant, thick with the scent of rich flooded earth and an abundance of green things that can be found nowhere elseóexcept perhaps Caidir Olc. In some areas of the swamp, water rises so high the only way to cross it is to crawl across fallen logs or massive roots arching from their liquid beds; in other places a wolf might wade easily through the mireóor find a fortunate stretch of mostly dry earth. Pieces of the great river, Glaesfaet Sceawere, also slice through from time to time: small falls that feed into surprisingly clear pools, only to terminate into tar-like pits. Of course, Laod Morís beauty shines brightest at night. Here, fireflies gather at all times of the year . . . suffusing the shadowy place with millions of twinkling lights.

Those looking to hunt here of course find a myriad of water prey, including caiman, turtles, fish, crayfish, otters, and toads.

Iím Not the Devil, But I Wonít Be Your Hero

ĒI Can Bleed if I Want to Bleed; ĒI Can Feel if I Feel the NeedĒ

The young female had not lived enough life yet to know the dangers that were out in the world. When she decided to go out exploring on her own, it never crossed her mind that things could go wrong. In her mind, it was just another adventure, just a bigger one than she had gone on before. Sneaking out was the easy part with her mother sleeping and her father away, it would be eventually finding her way back home that would be the difficult part. But for now that was not on her mind, the freedom she had was what she focused on. Missandei could go wherever she wanted from here, there was nothing to stop her or slow her down. The freedom excited her, and fueled her journey through the trees into the unknown.

The small femme didnít pay too much attention when the ground beneath her began to soften and squish under her paws. The areas here was much wetter than the lands she was used to, and some spots were so wet that it made little puddles that extended towards the swampier lands. She knew that there was a big body of water she lived, but she had not yet visited it and didnít know much about the ocean that was in Uyaraut and had little experience with water so far. She didnít know how to swim, and didnít know how easily one could be swept away by the current I a river or the waves of an ocean. But at least here the waters were still and calm, though dark and murky and it wasnít clear how deep or shallow it was. Orange orbs looked left and right, taking in all the sites around her in this foreign land. The trees were thick here, something else that was different from home. They cast shadows where the sunís streams were cut off, and she wasnít sure if she liked the eeriness that the darkness made her feel. Missandei had been out at night before, but with no trees to block the stars and moon she had never felt afraid of the dark before. But with the trees and all the shadows it was different. And so her path stayed where the sun was.

Weaving through the trees, hopping from sunny spot to sunny spot, the young pup didnít realize that she was about to get herself into a sticky situation. Small paws jumped to land on what appeared to be more solid ground, but really was thick mud and muck, getting her caught in the swamps trap. Her paws were able to slip from the mud at first, her body pushing itself forward before she finally was completely stuck and couldnít move. An irritated grumble escaped Missandeiís lips as she tried to wiggle and squirm her way to freedom, but nothing helped. Her paws just sunk deeper into the marshy earth. The scent of another reached her nares, and she turned her neck as much as she could in her position to see who was approaching. It was another pup, this one male, and she couldnít stop staring at him. She didnít have much experience with emotions yet, but she felt an immediate need to be with this male at all times, to never leave his side. He was the only thing that mattered to her now, as long as she was in his presence, she knew she would be happy. Why these emotions came on so strong, she didnít know, but she didnít question them. For her this was the first feelings of love besides her family, and she could only assume this was what was normal to feel.

And when his vocals reached Missandeiís ears, she felt as if her heart would stop. It was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard. ďStop struggling! Iíll pull you out!Ē Her form stilled at his words, orange orbs following his every move as he approached her, making his way more carefully on the uneven ground than she had done. He grasped her scruff, and pulled backwards to help dislodge her limbs from the mud. A small gasp escaped her when she felt her paws finally come free, and she fell backwards, collapsing on the maleís form. ďAre you okay??Ē The femme panted slightly as she squirmed off of the young brute, turning to face him. ĒYes, I am now thanks to you.Ē This was the first wolf she had met outside of her family, and she was not sure what to say or do, but her plume wagged happily behind her regardless. It was exciting meeting someone new, and there was something specifically about him that made her want to really get to know him. ĒThank you. My name is Missandei. Who are you? Youíre a hero you know! I could have been stuck there forever.Ē She could barely contain her excitement at meeting him, and her fur practically buzzed with it.
