At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

”I Can Bleed if I Want to Bleed; ”I Can Feel if I Feel the Need

_________________________________________________________________________

The young female had not lived enough life yet to know the dangers that were out in the world. When she decided to go out exploring on her own, it never crossed her mind that things could go wrong. In her mind, it was just another adventure, just a bigger one than she had gone on before. Sneaking out was the easy part with her mother sleeping and her father away, it would be eventually finding her way back home that would be the difficult part. But for now that was not on her mind, the freedom she had was what she focused on. Missandei could go wherever she wanted from here, there was nothing to stop her or slow her down. The freedom excited her, and fueled her journey through the trees into the unknown.

The small femme didn’t pay too much attention when the ground beneath her began to soften and squish under her paws. The areas here was much wetter than the lands she was used to, and some spots were so wet that it made little puddles that extended towards the swampier lands. She knew that there was a big body of water she lived, but she had not yet visited it and didn’t know much about the ocean that was in Uyaraut and had little experience with water so far. She didn’t know how to swim, and didn’t know how easily one could be swept away by the current I a river or the waves of an ocean. But at least here the waters were still and calm, though dark and murky and it wasn’t clear how deep or shallow it was. Orange orbs looked left and right, taking in all the sites around her in this foreign land. The trees were thick here, something else that was different from home. They cast shadows where the sun’s streams were cut off, and she wasn’t sure if she liked the eeriness that the darkness made her feel. Missandei had been out at night before, but with no trees to block the stars and moon she had never felt afraid of the dark before. But with the trees and all the shadows it was different. And so her path stayed where the sun was.

Weaving through the trees, hopping from sunny spot to sunny spot, the young pup didn’t realize that she was about to get herself into a sticky situation. Small paws jumped to land on what appeared to be more solid ground, but really was thick mud and muck, getting her caught in the swamps trap. Her paws were able to slip from the mud at first, her body pushing itself forward before she finally was completely stuck and couldn’t move. An irritated grumble escaped Missandei’s lips as she tried to wiggle and squirm her way to freedom, but nothing helped. Her paws just sunk deeper into the marshy earth. The scent of another reached her nares, and she turned her neck as much as she could in her position to see who was approaching. It was another pup, this one male, and she couldn’t stop staring at him. She didn’t have much experience with emotions yet, but she felt an immediate need to be with this male at all times, to never leave his side. He was the only thing that mattered to her now, as long as she was in his presence, she knew she would be happy. Why these emotions came on so strong, she didn’t know, but she didn’t question them. For her this was the first feelings of love besides her family, and she could only assume this was what was normal to feel.

And when his vocals reached Missandei’s ears, she felt as if her heart would stop. It was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard. “Stop struggling! I’ll pull you out!” Her form stilled at his words, orange orbs following his every move as he approached her, making his way more carefully on the uneven ground than she had done. He grasped her scruff, and pulled backwards to help dislodge her limbs from the mud. A small gasp escaped her when she felt her paws finally come free, and she fell backwards, collapsing on the male’s form. “Are you okay??” The femme panted slightly as she squirmed off of the young brute, turning to face him. ”Yes, I am now thanks to you.” This was the first wolf she had met outside of her family, and she was not sure what to say or do, but her plume wagged happily behind her regardless. It was exciting meeting someone new, and there was something specifically about him that made her want to really get to know him. ”Thank you. My name is Missandei. Who are you? You’re a hero you know! I could have been stuck there forever.” She could barely contain her excitement at meeting him, and her fur practically buzzed with it.
