Matianak continued to prowl along, pausing momentarily to lower her head to a natural pond to take a drink. She almost didn't notice him, lost in thought as she was. A poor, secretive wolf she would be if she was ever truly unaware of her surroundings. Her ears swiveled as she lapped up some water and raised her head, giving the sound of a refreshed aahh after her drink. The woman knew he was coming, but best not to ruin his fun. Not if she intended to dig her claws in deep as he grew up.
She certainly would play the part. As he pounced, he managed to get a paw for a brief moment, as Matianak yelped in surprised and jumped away to her left. "What on earth Triton! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" Her words were chastising, but the playful grin on her maw after his 'successful' pounce said otherwise. Her tail waved.
"Is that what you've been up to? Startling unexpected ladies in the woods," she said, still teasing. She highly doubted that was actually what he was doing on whatever adventure a young boy might go on. Matianak was quite certain he'd be glad to fill her in, even if she did have other things on her mind. Perhaps it would prove quite useful, especially if he met someone of interest.
