Growing, learning, being herded back to the den with her siblings or watched with vigilant eyes; perhaps these things were common occurrences. Menkhet loved her siblings, her mother, and father, even these other family members her mother mentioned; this is why she sought to wage war with them. A bite to the ear, the tug of a tail, this was the way the brindled and blood marked pup showed her affection. Today, however, there was something more that drove her. She did not seek to wake her family to show her affection, she did not wish to follow her parents to learn this day. There was a darkness that beckoned Menkhet to stir from the warm depths of the den. The air cooler with the light hidden away and it’s reflection providing what she needed to see clearly enough between the shadows of the tall grass.
Peering back at her family for a moment, Menkhet had succumbed to a curiosity that plagued her to explore. Massive paws made her movements a little less graceful but the pup weighed no concern for such matters. Her nose twitched and a strange scent graced her nose. Shadows danced around the girl driving her to trot towards whatever may be lurking just in the distance. After making some distance from the den, Menkhet had lost the strange shadow that captivated her attention and soon she found herself roaming back towards the well-traveled paths her mother had left. One she was certain her brother had traveled even though she had nothing to prove such a thing, this day before the light dare peek the brindle and blood marked girl was determined to survey the land if she was fortunate something would surely grab her attention.
It did not take her long to her to venture down the well-worn path, knowing the den was no longer far from range Menkhet grew curious as to if one of her family members would notice her missing. Her large paws carried her at a lope down the path towards the sea, managing not to trip and tumble despite the awkwardness of her small body and large limbs. The sound of the waves crashing drew her in luring her across the rocks and sand to the edge of the sea where the water lapped the shore. While the girl feared nothing, something deep within her knew not to challenge the unknown depths until she had learned more and then perhaps she could use such a massive tool to her advantage. For now, her nose simply embraced the saltiness of the air as she sat watching the water rush forward and recede. Maybe she would practice the thing she had observed her mother do, after all, this was something she desired to understand.
