At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

Her eyes shifted from him to the young sapling that he had dropped, and for a second, Vladimir’s breath caught in his throat – he had been planning the garden as a secret for so long… and this one run in could ruin everything. Not that she would not enjoy the gift if it was not a surprise, but the prince had worked so hard to keep it from her, which was difficult considering they lived together. Each time he returned to the den, he had had to bathe himself first, despite the dropping temperature of the waters, just so that he could hide the fragrancy of all the plants and herbs he had been collecting. Luckily, Lady Luck was seemingly upon his side, as she moved to him swiftly with a greeting and a caress. ‘Hello, darling.’ Vladimir leaned into her touch as her cranium nuzzled against his, and he took the opportunity to arch his nape slightly more in order to place kisses behind her ear and down the side of her neck, his tongue pressing down the soft thing fur there. He could feel her shiver slightly – winter was her least favorite season by far and with good reason, and so he moved after she broke the embrace to stand along side her so that his body heat could transfer to hers. ‘What have you been up to today? Hunting trees? That’s hardly fair to the trees, Vladimir. They aren’t very tasty anyway.’ Vladimir released the breath he had been holding and laughed, a deep chuckle rumbling in his chest, which quite nearly caused him to jump. When had his voice dropped? In a deep baritone, he answered her. “It had started to grow in one of the more commonly used trails, so I thought I would rehome it to a different area.” He shrugged nonchalantly, hoping that he had lied adequately. He had never lied to her before, and so had no way of knowing if she would catch onto his falsehoods dancing upon his tongue.

Vladimir felt her tail lay over his and he curled his up to lightly grasp onto hers before dropping his gaze and his maw in order to nuzzle lightly against her cheek. ‘On the other hand, I have caught a gull for us to eat, if you’d like to join me.’ The brute did not feel much of the cold as she left him, his nearly fully grown winter coat protecting him from the biting breeze, but he still rose and faced her, his eyes trained on her retreating form, his arctic pools hungrily eating up her form, the gentle sway of her hips from side to side captivating him until she turned around to face him. Even still, his gaze was smoldering as he peered at her – any time she was around him, she brought him to life in a way that he could not explain. It was as if all of his nerve endings were firing at the same time, heightening all of his senses, making him completely aware of her and everything she did and everything she felt. ‘Unless you’d prefer to eat the tree. But you can bring that over here if you want to eat it, I suppose. I’m still good company to eat trees with, right?’ Vladimir felt himself blush and shook his head as he delicately picked up the tree – he could not give up the ruse now that he had told her that he was going to rehome the tree…and so he put it slightly off the side as he moved next to her, his tongue slipping out to lay gentle kisses upon her brow, her cheek, her snout, her lips, and though the bird was at their paws, he could taste the faintest remnant of it upon her from when her teeth had punctured it, ending its life. ‘Obviously gull isn’t an ideal meal, but there’s not much else to catch on the beach. I’d try fishing or catching crabs, but it’s too cold to go into the water. But I worked with what I had, so I hope you don’t mind it.’ Vladimir pulled himself from her long enough to stare into her eyes.

I will always find every meal more delectable when it is shared with you, no matter the courses, even if it were fish I would enjoy it simply because of your presence. You are my preferred seasoning for you make every aspect of life better simply by existing. Without you, the colors fade to dull hues and a shadows darkens the rays of light.” He paused a second, his azules shifting from one of her orbs to the other before smiling, lightening the mood. As he spoke, he began grasping the feathers in his incisors and sharply pulled them out so that Seraphina would not be bothered by them. Sometimes, it was common for them to eat the birds whole, feathers and bones and all, but he saw no need to if it wasn’t necessary, and so the words came from the sides of his mouth, in between plucks.“I am sure the gull is fine, but I know how dearly you love the saltwater crabs in the ocean – I can go snatch a few if you would like. The meat should be more tender now for their shells will have hardened in preparation for the winter. All you need do is ask.” He paused, waiting to see if she would take the first bite, but when she did not he would dig in on the bird’s right side, taking half of its gut in a single bite and smiled when she too took a bite. Once they were done with the belly, he would flip the bird over and strip it bare before taking his half over the bird in his mouth and swallowing it down in another bite.

So what’s the sapling actually for? I don’t think you’re planning on eating it.’ Vladimir licked his chops clean before turning his attention back to his mate. “As I said, I did not want the path obstructed. Should any pups go barreling around one of the paths that leads from the lake to the ocean, they could have run into it and either hurt themselves or injured the sapling. Neither deserves that.” It was partially true – he had found it on a path… but it had been mainly off to the side of the path and had, as previously stated, removed it to be part of her gift. He paused, waiting to see how she would respond, but she merely nodded, satisfied, before changing the subject completely. “Ziva, Qiturah, and Asmund have gotten so big. It feels like so long ago that we were their age. They can’t be much younger than we were when I was pregnant with them. I know they’re capable on their own, but I can’t help wanting them to be children again.’ She laughed, and Vladimir grinned at her. “You are so beautiful.” The words were murmured, meant to be a thought more than a set of spoken words, and he hardly realized that he had said anything at all. “We were children when we had them – them and the rest of them. We were gifted with so many wonderful pups so young, we are lucky and blessed. But I agree – time is passing so quickly, I fear that they are now susceptible to the evils of the world. I want them to be forever young so I can keep them safe and sweet, so that the world cannot strip them of their innocence. I don’t know what I would do were Ziva or Qiturah to be in the family way…” Vladimir chuckled. “I would probably hunt down whoever impregnated them and kill them. Or at least maim them.” But even as he said it, he could not much imagine any brutes being able to take advantage of either of his two daughters. Still, the thought of anyone injuring either his daughters brought his fiery temper leaping into his throat, and the fur bristled along his spine as he fought to keep his Oferweder soul under control.

Just so he could have something to release his rage on, he moved from Seraphina’s side and strode into the ocean, the frigid waters biting at his skin but he hardly felt it. Beneath his paws, crabs scurried away quickly, for they had been naďve, thinking that the oncoming winter would keep them safe from predators. Vladimir focused, his eyes glowing with magic, until the vibrant souls around him revealed a larger crab, perhaps two and a half to three pounds, came into view. Vladimir strode over to it and took a deep breath before dipping his head beneath the surface, his jaws curling around his back half, and he scooped it up. Quickly, he surfaced and starting leaping out of the water. His mistake was that he took the opportunity to shake out before dealing with the crab however – Vladimir succeeded in blowing out his coat, but the crab’s long arms curled around, allowing one of its large claws to clasp onto Vladimir’s left nares tightly. “Fenris be cursed!” Vladimir growled and pawed at his face, sending the crab careening into a nearby boulder, cracking the shell apart, but the damage had been done – a long thin laceration had been torn in his nose by the pinscher and it bled freely now. Pouting now, he growled and mumbled some curses under his breath as he strode over to the crab and deftly tore the meat out of the shell, pulling off each of the legs so that Seraphina could slurp up the meats inside, and laid them all out like a fine meal for her. When he was done, he turned to her, his tongue slipping up to clean his bloodied snout. “Snack number two served, my lady… the battle was fierce and hard and long, but I persevered.
