Hello, World

He of course knew of the other mares that were a part of his father's herd but he mostly talked to the other foals of the herd. His own mother was still away, having gone to check on her family on another island while the war waged. He knew his father was worried for her safety and he often saw him staring off toward Luthien as if he could pull her home by simple willpower but he assured Akello many times that she was capabel of taking care of herself and he wouldn't pressure her to come home before she was ready. Akello missed her a lot, especially at night when she would usually be there to tell him stories and whisper affections in his ear, but he grew in confidence without her constant presence. He was growing into a gangly yearling and then he would be a young stallion. His father guided him and taught him, even sparring with him to teach him battle skills he might need for later in life.

Akello wanted to be able to protect his friends and family. He hated the look of defeat on his father's face when Primrose and Paisley had to go. Akello wished he was old enough to fight in those moments cause he would have fought to keep them here. Paisley needed someone to protect her and he had taken on that role whole heartedly while she was here but now she was on another island and he often thought about her, wondering if she was okay. He tried not to think about it cause he got sad when he did. Today he was splashing in the oasis for lack of anything else to do, crying out in his best battle voice as he challenged any to come stand before him. He looked up when a new scent found him and he was surprised to find it didn't belong to someone in the herd. It was a mare, a tall dark mare but she seemed friendly enough.

His tail swished around his flanks as he stopped and stared at her for a moment, ears flicking back and forth uncertainly. She wouldn't come here to start trouble, right? He wouldn't put it past a mare but nothing in her body language was hostile or suspicious. She only looked exhausted and curious. She called out to him and pricked her ears and he tilted his head, watching her a little longer before he finally smirked and straightened up. "Hello." He said back before trotting toward her with confidence. He stopped a few feet away, his nostrils flared as he took in her scent. She smelled faintly of his father. Did that mean she came here to join the herd? She was so tall. He wondered if he would get that tall when he was full grown. She gave her name as Melisma and said she came looking for a friend. His carefree smirk was on full display now as he stretched his nose out.

"I can be your friend too. I'm Akello, son of Vihaan and Cain. Who are you looking for? Maybe I can escort you." He tried to look as tall as he could but he knew he was coming up abysmally short. He wanted to impress this mare.
