you call me out upon the waters

you call me out upon the waters

I wondered what it would be like to see him again, the Wolf King of Paradise. My time with him had been brief. We shared thoughts of leadership. I had been Queen of the Harbor at the time. My reign was brief. A pang of disappointment was felt at the notion that I had failed my position. I could feel the darkness creeping into my mind. Himena Did he know that he had been there in those lost moments? It felt like yesterday that I had stumbled upon the crumpled form of the sultry mare and newborn filly. My body has been nearly broken by Kaari's arrival. I hadn't even had time to recover when I heard the soft bleating of her sweet babe. My time with Rougaru may have been only moments, but I had felt a connection. One I had been seeking since I'd washed upon the shores of the Commons.

I figured it wouldn't be long before the King of Paradise happened upon us on his sandy beach. When I met him, he struck me as the type to patrol often. From Himena's description, I also deduced that he was possessive. A smile tugs at my lips as the dappled stallion arrives on the beach. I carefully moved towards him, pulling my hooves free of the ocean waters, Kaari trailing behind me. "Rougaru." An awkwardness came off me in waves as I craned my dished face to the bay daughter we had created together. "I had many plans for the Harbor. Alas, it had other plans for me." I say. The story behind it was short. You should never venture too far away from your home for others are always watching. My emerald eyes settled back on the Wolf King. "Our child." I offer my muzzle to Rougaru. "Her name is Kaari. She looks just like you." I memorize his face this time. Committing the little details to memory. Every grey hair, every wrinkle. My muzzle trails his cheek gently as I turn to beckon the bay filly. "Kaari, I know it has been a long time since you've been here. But I think we are finally home." I couldn't imagine that Rougaru would turn us away, but I was tired of wandering. The bay filly peeks at him with long lashed eyes. She had inherited her father's colored coat without the trademark dapples and her mother's femine dished face. "Hello father," she says, her voice meek with shyness. "Mother has told me so much about you."

But N.asa didn't truly know about the Wolf King that lurked below Rougaru's facets.
