Skyfire had her whole attention focused on Nissa’s grey face. Glacier eyes were narrowed, but not in threat, she never wanted to hurt her sneaky friend. She was trying to see beyond that lovely striped grey coat. But all she could see there were more shadows. More secrets and perhaps there were lies woven amongst them. The truth comes out ans Skyfire simply nods and smiles sweetly in response.
With surprising grace and ease she leaves the stream, barely making a noise, other than the odd droplet of water returning to the river. Carefully she draws nearer to Nissa. Placing her nose just under her friend's ear she softly whispers, “I understand perfectly, my dear friend.” The scarlet guardian then tries to lean her white masked face into the soft fur of Nissa’s cheek and neck. If she senses any resistance or unease coming from the other wolf, of course she would back off. But she longs for a little cuddle. To offer this mysterious girl some comfort. “You’re not alone, Nissa.” With one last warm breath Skyfire cautiously looks up and down the riverway.
The pair of them seemed to be alone for now. But Skyfire is now certain she should leave before she gets both of them into some serious trouble. “I’ll leave now,” she announces in a hushed tone and starts carefully making her way to the closest neutral land. Flicking one blue eye over her brindled shoulder she hoped that Nissa would be following her. “I was hoping that…” she sighs softly before trailing off. Should she say this out allowed? What if Nissa thought she was weird for suggesting this? Well, she’s probably already piqued her friend's curiosity, so she might as well spill it.
“I was hoping you would be my “Sister of the Light?” The girl's soft words are heavy with conviction, but she had no intention of chaining Nissa in unbreakable bonds. Skyfire adds a little context in barely audible whispers. “The Sisters of the Light were a group of female wolves in my birthlands, there was usually one from every allied pack. Their role was to protect all within the land and find non-violent ways to resolve disputes between the Alphas, where it was possible for them to do so. They were Guardians, Guides, Diplomats and Healer. They were all ways working towards the greater good. All of them were strong, but their vows forbid them from attacking an alpha, their pack, another pack, or any wolf not of age. And of course they protected the old and the sick.” Skyfire’s eyes were sparkling with innocent childhood wonder. Clearly she hasn’t thought about how difficult that responsibility sounded. Or she just wasn’t mature enough to fully grasp the concept. It has not occurred to her how the weight of protecting one pack was a burden enough to bear, let alone trying to keep six safe within Moladion.
“I was hoping to be one, like my mother before me,” there is a note of sadness as she mentions her departed mother. But her cheery demeanor soon returns. “What do you think, Nissa? Would you like to be my “Laughter in the Wind?” Obviously, Skyfire had spent some time fantasising about this idea. Quickly she backs up so Nissa doesn’t get completely freaked out. “Of course you can think about it. You don’t need to answer me now.”
Black rimmed ears flick in all directions while there is a moment of silence. She just realized that if they were being followed, and their conversation was being eavesdropped on, this might look like a kidnapping attempt. With a soft sigh, Skyfire lets her bristling hackles lie flat. She doesn’t think they have been tracked and traced. Also, she can now see the treetops from Mecor Valley steadily rising out of the horizon. With a little luck, she’ll be safe and sound any minute now.
