After the sudden burst of Life, the only thing his ears can hear - he doesn’t understand. Being the first sounds, he would never forget them, but he would not [till much later] realize what the sounds were, where they had come from, nor that his mother had indeed named him before she passed on and left him to his brother’s lucky arrival.
When his eyes open, the seaglass green ones of his brother are the first things his own teal seaglass eyes see. The yellow behind him catching light through the trees makes almost a halo around him and the encouragement to rise off the ground. He feels tired, somehow, although he does not understand that feeling yet. Tired and hungry.
It is for that reason that he rises up, though there is some bit of struggle when the nudging is too strong and his knees are too weak… his little bleary eyed star locking onto the face of his older brother as he is led away from the tomb of trees in which his mother had spent all her happiness.
