Looks like the previous poster is on to something. The BLS program is coming back, but in a different way. From what I understand, 10 BLS ambos will be added in the next contract, but there’s a catch. All 10 will be equipped with a bariatric stretcher, stair-chair and be manned with 3, that’s right THREE detailed FF/EMTs. These ambos will respond with an als amb when they need a “mansack” or when a patient is in excess of 300lbs, the PIC/AC, if ALS will take their equipment into the BLS rig for transport.
The plan is to place them in houses with an ALS fire company to be “hijacked” if needed……meaning the FF/PM will take the als equipment off the fire company and upgrade the BLS amb to ALS.
There is also talk of using the new BLS ambos for Invalids. 😂
