Remember when you insisted that jai-alai would NEVER have better video quality than the fuzzy low-res Roberts product?
I knew then that bandwidth was increasing and getting cheaper all the time. And that even if jai-alai made no effort to improve its video, if it just continued to exist, then the evolving cultural norms would bring higher res video to them, almost automatically. Pretty much what happened, thank the gods.
Now you say there is NO viability in a parimutuel model, but we know for a fact that there used to be.
I don't know if Tiger is much of a futurist or not, but he did bring up the idea of 'studio jai-alai', and that was way back when.
With that in mind, we can think of a line from 'The Godfather' (or sequel), "Hit em right now, while we've got the muscle". Then imagine that back when the frontons were still hauling in the revenue, if they had the vision to fully attack the internet possibilities, and were incentivized by the possibility of harvesting a respectable percentage of the take - by way of their own betting app - then they would have had a much more enthusiastic view of improving their online presence.
An example would adopting a much more fan friendly and engaging announcing format, such as provided by Stu and Andrew at MC.
At any rate, the key here is to understand if you are insisting that there is no viability, even if we get 5,000 or more people tuning in and wagering on the games.
