Her twin’s behavior had been jarring, and in the wake of his harsh words, Ashteroth had almost crumbled into rubble instead of being the mountain she did her best to represent herself as. She kept her stony expression, ears twisted back against her poll, and stood silently as the red mare vanished towards the Peak and her brother slunk off to where (she assumed) he had been hiding out at. As much as she wanted to demand answers from Modeus, or even to run off to father and demand answers from him, Ash knew that was no longer an option. It was clear what her brother thought of her, and her station wouldn’t allow her to show such weakness as to run off to tell daddy her brother had been mean to her.


With a snort, Ash finally allowed her shoulders to sag long after both had gone, and her ears flopped out towards the side. Doubt flickered in her mind, wondering if she had made the right choice to abandon her family for the sake of making something out of herself. Would Modeus still hate her as he apparently did now?


Only the sound of others drug Ash from her thoughts, and she looked over to see a fresh pair of foreigners climb from the sea and onto the Crossing Isle. Mates or siblings? It almost stung to think it was the latter, after the run in with her own, but she pushed it to the back of her mind and gave herself a good shake, before walking over towards the pair. Her black ears twisted forward as she heard them speaking, and it caused a short laugh to escape her in response. “There is only one place more dangerous than this.” she stated. “This is the Commons; a territory where any vile beast can whisk you away to their lair.” Perhaps a bit dramatic, but after what she had just faced, Ash felt she deserved a smidge of humor for herself.


“What brings you strangers here to the Lost Islands?”
