Thames

It was hard for the brindled stallion to believe that they had been on the islands for over a year now, which meant two years since. . . He shut his blue eyes tight for a moment, wincing at the memory. Dove grey ears twist outward to catch the sound of a dove. With a low sigh, Thames opened his eyes again. Sadness dulled them; it had been two years since his parents died in the earthquake.

Their parents, he should say. One ear flicks as the stallion moves to find a path through the shrubbery and back out into the main stretch of the meadow. As his hooves find their stride, Thames' thoughts drift again. This time, they flicker to his younger sister Aura. Concern causes his brow to furrow. She still hadn't spoken a word. Not in all their time here or while wandering through the wide wilds of the world to get here had she uttered a single syllable.

The wind rustled at his mane, playfully tossing the dark grey strands. The warmth of it pleased him. Winter was always so dreary. So Thames was consistently delighted with spring's arrival. The stallion pushed away the thoughts of the wildflowers high in the mountains and turned in the direction of a body of water. He'd no sooner arrived than heard a single splash. Looking around, he found a mare. She was closer to the water than he was, but Thames wondered vaguely at the expression on her face.

The brindling on his body bent and whorled as the arabesque stallion dipped his head to her and whickered. If she wasn't seeking company, that was just as well. Thames wasn't the sort to force his company or anything else. If chance smiled that she did seek conversation? Then, he was quite fortunate indeed. Grey ears twisted curiously toward her as the stallion finally moved to speak. "My apologies for the intrusion, miss. I came merely seeking water."

His vocals trailed for a moment as the stallion deliberated prying. Something about her expression spoke to him. It was silly, but still he couldn't help but wonder if she was alright. His voice would color with some of the concern he couldn't help but harbor after caring for his grieving sister. "If I may be so bold as to ask. . . are you alright?" The brindled male could only expect a negative reaction to such questioning by a stranger. In his heart though, if she was troubled like Aura had been troubled, he would have wanted someone to at least ask after her in her state.
