The Ice Mountain is much smaller than Wolf Mountain, yet climbing up it is far more difficult and shouldn't be attempted in winter. Some creatures collect the shiny stones at the peak of this mountain for necklaces.

She took up a position at his side, helping bear some of his weight and giving him someone to lean on should he need to. She was gentle with him, though she easily could have been otherwise. She had never been this close to him before, and really never planned to be again, but given the opportunity she could not resist studying the young male.

To her eyes he looked to be a little younger than Youkou, but she could not be sure of it, and she could clearly make out features that reminded her strongly of Tycoon. She could also see those characteristics that must have come from his mother. She could smell both in his scent, her mate�s muted fragrance lending it a familiarity that reminded her of her own offspring. She wondered, as she often had, how her daughter could have been with him and not noticed what she did. The answer of course was that she had not been looking for it, but she still found herself astounded by that possibility.

"No,"she said. "Suppose you enlighten me? All I know is that they have followed him since he left his home because of some wrong that they hold him accountable for. By all means, help me to understand what makes these birds any more than persistent pests."
