Ice Mountain

The Ice Mountain is much smaller than Wolf Mountain, yet climbing up it is far more difficult and shouldn't be attempted in winter. Some creatures collect the shiny stones at the peak of this mountain for necklaces.

Flying above around Ice Mountain in the middle of January took a very distinct mixture of guts and stupidity...
But did it still make you stupid if you fully recognized the stupidity of the action, and chose to do it anyway? Toric would have to ask Mal's opinion on that one, at some point when the bitter wind wasn't stealing his very breath away.

Toric was here for the same reason he'd gone to Shama forest to watch a hail storm. There was something magnificent about surrendering oneself to the elements, and surviving.
Toric was old. The icy cold emphasized the soreness of swelling in his joints, and the sharp ache of stressed bones. The pain was what kept him from wandering far from home anymore, but nothing could really kill his lust for adventure. He needed this, for all of its pain and stupidity. It was the sense of extremes, the same as he'd felt on every valiant quest and whimsical journey. This was his adventure now - close to home, but far from its safety.

Cresting above the highest peak, he rode the winds there for a moment before bending his wings and bowing into a downward spiral. He came down in great loops around the mountain, gravity lending him dangerous speed while only long years of flying kept him from colliding with the monolith.

It was on one of these loops that he spied the young wolf, a furry speck upon the mountain's side. Always ready to follow whimsical curiosity, he adjusted his flight, fanning wings to decelerate and turning against the wind, letting it push him down while the angle of his body shot him forward.
Then the wind was broken by the mountain and his wings burst wide, righting himself and wafting him down into a gentle landing four wolf-lengths from the youngster.

He did a very good job of hiding how much it hurt.

"Beautiful day for a walk, isn't it?" he panted, out of breath and grinning.
