Hi Susan. There have been reports from Wilbraham and Somers, so Monson isnt surprising. There are bobcats around also, so that would be a possibility. The size of the animal, and the tail are the best clues. If it has a long tail, (3ft or so), and is over 80 lbs, its a candidate for a mountain lion. There is a lot of compelling evidence coming in now that social media is on this, especially rural areas. Credible sightings and evidence have been had in the Berkshires.
