For it is not the Stars that determine our destiny - but ourselves
Fayte was tired of being alone. She needed some companionship that was not the hyper Pleiades. The Stars were giving her all the right signs and all Fayte could think of was that she was sick and tired of being left alone. She knew her daughter would soon take her own paths - the indications were all there. Especially in the heavenly signs that brought the world into Spring.
This season, however, had seen Fayte loose her child. The filly had been pretty - a chestnut. But it had been devoid of the markings of the heavens, and had been so small. It still bothered Fayte. And there had been no one there to watch her cry. To see her down at the river with the blood stains trailing away.
It was that cloud that hung over the appaloosa's head as she made her way through the familiar trails. Some of these had been beaten with her own hooves. She had been in the Forest almost since she arrived on the Islands and this was her home. It would always be it.
She looked about. Her horrible pregnancy had driven her away from all companions. But now, she wished to meet the others. She stood in a large clearing, the best for these sorts of things. Once Bondurant had gathered them here nightly, now she stood wishing for their attention.
She let out a call, a loud one she hoped they would respond to. All she wanted was to met her fellow herdmates. Maybe discuss the new stallion. Stallions would come and go - she'd seen the Forest change four times since she had come here. But the mares seemed to have stayed this long.
