Life is nothing but a Game

Days had passed and spring had come. Fundamental had spent most of them alone, his need for seeking company lost in the silent wind that still cut between the pines. Despite the change in seasons snow still lay upon the ground just as it would every season that came and went. The stallion did not miss the warmth though, only the green grasses that had once filled his belly. The harsher climates had changed him physically, his hair lengthening and his body becoming slimmer yet more fit now that he was not overeating. Yet mentally the stallion was still the same calm and collected man he was when he first stepped into this land. Fundamental saw no reason to get upset, to try and start fights that he may or may not be able to finish but just to enjoy the day as it came and went just to enjoy another as he never knew which would be his last.

As his mind mulled all of this thoughts over Fundamental had been following an invisible trail among the trees that had brought him out onto the rocky shore. The salty water that usually crashed upon the land was calm today, barely licking at the soil as if it was sated for now. Fundamental wondered what soul the waters had claimed for it to be so calm, but with a shake of his head he pushed it all away. There was no reason for him to ponder on those things, it would only bring down his mood that he usually tied to keep up. But with such solitude he had once more found himself in it was becoming difficult not to find some downer in it all.

Maybe if he wasn’t such a hermit, maybe if he visited another island then it would all be fixed. Seeing another face, learning another name and filling his belly with delicious grass sounded like such a good idea. The water was calm which would make for easy travel and he could slip away to the Crossing for just a little while. But even as he thought this he turned away to return to wandering between the pines further and further away from the salt waters. This was his home and he had no plans to leave it ever again.
