and i knew your heart i couldn't win (grai)

Spring has finally arrived. The weather is significantly warmer, and wildflowers have begun to bloom all over the Inlet, covering its hills and mountainsides in various vibrant colors. Freya stands in the middle of the meadow, fetlock-deep in the cool, crystal clear waters, eyes closed and a content smile on her face as she bathes in the warm spring sunshine. Ahh, how she has wanted this day to come for so long. The only thing that would make it better is if there were foals being born. While she knows the other territories - like the Bay - have foals galore, this spring the Inlet does not welcome any new life. Which Freya finds disappointing - she would have liked to see some little ones added to the herd. Next spring, though, she knows it will be different. Next spring she plans to have a child of her own, if things work out in her favor. Only time will really tell.

Freya transitions her thoughts away from children and towards more important matters, like meeting this new beta that Dogun had invited to the Inlet. She had seen him around, briefly, but never quite got the chance to speak with him. Now that she has some down time, she figures it is time to get to know him a little. After all, a proper alpha mare would not just dismiss this responsibility, and Freya is determined to do her job right and well, to prove herself to Dogun and the rest of the herd that she can be responsible, despite her youth.

Sighing, the golden mare steps out of the water and throws her head up, letting out a long whinny, a call meant for Dogun's new beta stallion. Their first meeting will certainly be interesting, she thinks.
