Lord of the Inlet
icelandic | stallion | 13.2 hands | erin

A bird sings it melody in the top branches of the pine trees that surrounded the grazing grullo. Each bite brings pleasure and satisfaction, the grasses hidden away in this little clearing had been untouched yet this spring. Their shoots sweet, and tender. Flicking fuzzy ears he hears a familiar nicker from the trail that he had just wandered up. Raising his head his russet eyes falling on the golden roan mare, a feeling of happiness washes over him. She had followed him from the herd, maybe she had things that she would like to discuss with him as well. A smile spreads across his dark lips as she approaches. "You are more than welcome to join me." Giving her shoulder a nudge as she settles in beside him.

He was curious to why she had decided to take the same trail as he, maybe she had just missed their little chats. Dögun had barely a moment to speak with Freya except in passing, or maybe that was how it would be? Shifting his gaze to her, his voice fills the void. "Fancy meeting you here. How have your duties been going?" Pausing he continues. "How do you like being my lead lady?" He wonders quietly if she was happy here in the Inlet with him and their herd. She seemed to like the responsibilities of taking care of the herd but he could still see a longing in her eye when her gaze had fallen on Shiraz. A question formed on his tongue but he was afraid to ask it.

Summoning the courage he speaks. "Freya.." He pauses for a minute as he considers the words he was about to say. "Did you want children of your own?" A little embarrassment creeps at the back of his mind, knowing that she did, but he was not sure how he could provide for her. Regaining his courage he shifts his gaze to her once again. "I want to provide you with our own child, but I am unsure of how it will work out. I mean... maybe this is not the time to be talking of such things. Fall is yet many months away, but I see the way you long for a foal of your own. So I figured I would ask you." He knew that there was a height difference between the two, and with her being the lead mare, they had to produce children together. Who would be the heir to the Inlet if they did not?
