I was trying to stay closer to the grouped herd members as winter came grasping tighter around us, making the close quarters needed to stay warm. Once again I had found myself near Aureila- the large draft mare I had met months before. She was larger now- she was pregnant. But she still welcomed my presence near her and that made me feel much better, for now at least. She had gone over letters, trying to spell out my name and it had taken about an hour, but she finally had it. It was nice that someone knew it. And she had told me she would try to spread the news of my name around, so maybe everyone would actually call me by name now. The mere thought of that was exhilarating in its own.

I found myself staring out at the sea, right in the midst of the clearing. I didn’t know why the sea had such a calming effect on me, but it made me feel more grounded in this place, made me feel more at home here. I heard and felt the oncoming vibrations made by another’s body weight; so I turned my pale dial, looking towards the grullo mare who was approaching, I dip my dial, a soft smile on my face.

She spoke to me, and oh-my-goddd- she used my name! Sparks popped up in my eyes and I bobbed my head with vigor, my silken mane flying around my face. I grin, pawing slightly at the ground as I watched her. Oh, a friend!? She spoke of how she belonged to Braylen as well, and I wondered if she had been here when I first got here…But I couldn’t remember there being any one else who belonged to him at that time. Maybe I had been the first, but I doubted I was the highest ranked in his list of girls. Kinda hard for a mute to have any kind of high rank.

I tilt my head curiously, encouraging her to speak some more, wanting to see what she was seeking her out for.
