One eye on the ocean, Vesti really had to fight her instincts not to bolt back into the shelter of the dry desert. It didn’t need the Sea. But, she also rarely caught Orhan alone. So instead, she just shifted back and forth as Orhan turned and to her relief approached. Vesti let out a sigh as Orhan touched her. She closed an eye and turned her neck to return the touch.

Come on, Vesti. Sweetie. Stop panicking. Her breaths were a bit short. Ugh, we’re too close this time.

“I’m…” Vesti stammered. “I’m fine.” She glanced inland a bit further. “Nu… nothing’s wrong.” She gulped. “I… Just…” She closed her eyes and folded her ears back against the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. “Was surprised to see you out here.” It was an eternal inner battle against the rising fear and Vesti was starting to lose.
