Their very presence on the mountain had managed to alleviate much of his stress, much of his loneliness. He had found new purpose in his children, showing them around the secret alcoves of the mountain and teaching them about the history they had gained from their father’s side. They already knew much about Moladion, their mothers’ teaching them much about the Angels and Demons they were each raised by. Perhaps the history of the mountain as not quite so exciting, but Spirane’s lineage rooted back even further than that of Heyel or Andras’s families. And he wanted them to be just as proud of that part of themselves as they were of the others. Today, though, found Sleekwing giving the trio the freedom to roam the mountain to their hearts content. And for himself he would roam to a place that he often went to for solitude, a place close to home but far enough away he could separate himself from the mountain even for a portion of the day. As he reached the crags, he began scaling the familiar portions of the rocky terrain. There was the small pool where he and Natu had swam together. And further up the waterfall by which he and Malina had once spoken of the troubles of his ties to the mountain. It was that day that they had agreed to bring forth new life in this world together. Despite his usual guise of coming here under the need for solitude, he often found himself in the company of others. And so it seemed it would be so this day as well. Two voices spoke just beyond his line of vision, words about the Ruieze Lake being exchanged, and the notion of cooling off. He glanced back over his shoulder at the small pool that he and Natu had shared only earlier this summer, and wondered if the two who meant to traverse the less stable upper region of the crags to get to the lake realized there was a pool just here. He moved with ease from rock to rock, knowing his way around the crags quite well, and being practiced in such terrains from the highest peaks of Spirane. Sleekwing made his way towards the duo, and finally came into sight of them. He remained on the large, flat rock he had reached, and called out to them. “Hello there; there is a pool just here, if you didn’t want to make your way to the lake.” Perhaps he had been mistaken, but the female had not seemed enthralled with the idea of making their way tot he lake. He gestured then over his shoulder, back the way he had come. His tail waved idly behind him, a pleasant expression lighting up his features. The duo was most curiously marked, he noticed; almost as if a portion of each of their faces had been swapped out for one another. He himself had his own unique markings; the heather painted sides that so resembled a set of wings, that which had given him his name. He watched the two for a moment, curious of whether they might be interested in joining him or if they were set on going to the lake. |
