Jörmungandr continues to groom her daughter but remains vigilant and somewhat impatient as she waits. In the forest, she would not let a call go unanswered for long but this is not the forest. This is the herd of men who do not need to fear other men stealing their mares and certainly won't concern themselves much with a woman coming in uninvited. As such, it does not surprise that there is no one to rush forward and greet her.
After an indeterminate amount of time passes, a stallion slips from the darkness, the shadows clinging to him like he belonged to them. The mare’s ears swivel at the cold greeting she receives but she pays it no mind. She is not friends with any one of the bachelors so she had not expected a warm or friendly greeting. The stallion’s next words pique her interest and she narrows her eyes momentarily.
Did his words concern Caesisus’ trip to the lagoon? She knew there had been some fuss kicked up but just how undiplomatic had Lyden been to the lagoon men when ordering her home? "No" she stated tonelessly before fixing him with a half smirk, "But perhaps we can come to a mutually beneficial arrangement" she may not have come with intentions of smoothing things over and, while she might plan to leave her son regardless, that doesn't mean her family can't benefit from it.
Before they can discuss things further, a dark stallion draws up while a yearling comes over to distract Joukahainen - handy because she didn’t want him in the way. The buckskin mare turns to look at the black stallion with a hard stare as he speaks "I belong to no one" she states, head high. A flicker of a smile forms before she speaks again, some of the edge lost (though her accent and manner of speaking often sounded cold despite herself), "but I am from the forest and lead alongside Lyden, yes."
The stallion goes on to tell her Lyden had been causing trouble and Caesisus stirring drama. She notices the flicker of something on his features but he hides well. She suspects he is the friend Lyden spoke of. She snorts, her contempt evident. "Caesisus stirs up drama wherever she goes. You are just one in a long line of men to become tangled in her web." Soljor, Lyden, Kasabian and at least one bachelor (this one?) are the ones she knows of but she suspects more and the perlino had admitted herself to being much loved in her native home. The girl is a magnet for trouble, probably due to her innocent, naive manner. Something about a damsel in distress gets all men hot under the collar. As far as the buckskin can tell though, Caesisus is fickle, declaring her undying love for Lyden in one breath and telling Kasabian she didn't know what she wanted in another. Jörmungandr cannot fully blame her, she is young, but she causes undue drama in the herd. That aggravates her no end.
Her attention wavers from the man as her old friend steps forward to greet her. Zhenya had been a casualty of Caesisus’ spell on Lyden though by the looks of it, she has flourished outside the forest. Perhaps a less traditional home was exactly what she had needed. "Zhenya" She greets and extends her muzzle to return the nuzzle. ”I have been well, and you? I was not sure you would still be here.” Most mares are traded a season or two after their arrival, she must have proved herself indispensable.
The buckskin mare’s blue eyes fall to the colt at Zhenya’s side and she is about to respond when the black stallion stamps at the ground. While she turns her gaze slowly to look upon him as she would an impatient child, Jökulrós tentatively approaches the painted bay colt at Zhenya’s side, her muzzle outstretched to take in his scent. Jörmungandr keeps her daughter in her peripheral but gives the black stallion the majority of her attention in that moment. "Patience." She tuts. "As I was beginning to tell bachelor number one when you so rudely interrupted, my colt is of an age where he no longer needs my company. I am here to discuss his joining the lagoon"
