We have had a good number of kill sites with surgical openings, but tracks in our area without snow are a real challenge. The one we did get was on the highest point, and in one spot of snow left in a shadowed area. Scavengers hit these sites and consume almost everything within a few days. We do have more snow this year, just need a little more luck and persistence. Credible reports are coming from a few areas, one not far from the famous CT road kill, others in historical areas in Massachusetts. The locals in many of these areas have reported sightings for years. Including wildlife biologists from the Massachusetts universities. Be aware there is that book "The big cats of Western Massachusetts", by Pomeroy written in the 1950s, detailing his encounters with cougars that were tracked while trying to track bobcats. One had a home range and was seen over a period of years. No evidence in there of any females or kittens seen though.
