Stuart Kenn's Review of CBC Eastern Cougar Program IP: 184.13.224.159 Posted on April 28, 2015 at 01:23:37 PM by Helen
Eager to see the program and hopefully share it with others, I contacted Stuart Kenn and asked him to copy it on a flash drive. Stuart lives in southern Ontario and has been a naturalist and outdoor enthusiast his entire life. He is a professional cartographer and owner of KennKart Digital Mapping (www.kennkart.com). He has been studying and collecting data on pumas in Ontario since 1974 and is the co-founder of the Ontario Puma Foundation (OPF) and Ontario’s leading puma expert. The OPF host the third (and last) eastern cougar conference in Peterborough, Ontario in 2007. The OPF is temporarily inactive, but I hope it will re-activate one day.
He says the program is a waste of time, “Hype and Fluff” with no scientific value whatsoever. It continually refers to the Eastern Cougar as a species that still exists in remnant populations. If we accept Melanie Culver’s DNA study, it’s not even a subspecies. They kept showing photos of black panthers and even took a “full blown live size black panther” to take into the forest and photograph so they could ask people if that is what they saw. Tracks shown in a photograph were clearly canine. A cat captured on video in a field was clearly a housecat. One “scientist” discussed Sasquatches. Replies:
