If you click on "reported sightings" in RI in that article, it brings up the report of the Environmental Police officer in RI that investigated the Matanuck cougar attack on a deer. His report and accompanying data resulted in a CLASS 1 (positive confirmation) of a cougar in Rhode Island. Thereafter, the RI DEM attempted to dismiss and cover this up. To this day, they will tell people there has been no confirmation since the 1800's.
