Caesisus
The midnight heavens twinkle, a starry blanket shrouds the islands in darkness. The silvery light of a crescent moon, glimmers down on the pearly mare. Her pelt glows beneath heavens light. Years ago, when her hooves had sunk into the islands sandy beaches, she had believed in fairytales. She had thought that the world was full of rainbows and butterflies. She snorts at the thought now, the world was anything but a fairytale.
She lifts her head high onto her arched nape, her cerulean eyes gaze out at the clearing. The dull roar of the falls reach her upturned ears, each ear twitches nervously. Each crack of a branch draws the pearly mares attention, she had no intention of being caught off guard. A cloud drifts across the silvery moon, shrouding the clearing in an eery light. Cae remains motionless for another brief second, before she steps from the cover of the underbrush. Quietly the perlino mare makes her way to the water's edge.
The mud squishes around her hooves, it makes sucking and slurping noises as she moves about. She drops her pink lips to the dark waters, her reflection contrasted against the twinkling stars and the emerging moon. She lets the water drip from her lips back into the pool. She sighs contently, for a brief moment, she forgets the dull ache in her chest. They were all gone, everyone from her past life. Soljor, Lyden, Dixon, all of them who had ever cared for her, were gone. Even Zaida, her precious daughter.
As the moon emerges from behind the clouds, Cae lifts her delicate crown to the heavens. Her cerulean eyes mesmerized by the beauty of the twinkling stars. She whispers. "Oh Luna, bring them home." A hope blossoms in her chest, maybe, just maybe.
