bandaids don't fix bullet holes [jormungandr]

its' okay for you to hate me

”son I’m leaving for a while” Lyen tells his youngest son Alexander. why father? he asks and it makes him shudder. Why, such a small word that so many have such a hard time explaining when it comes from somebody else’s mouth. ”it’s time for a new adventure” Lyden replies as he icey blues stare into his sons. ”let me come with you then” Alexander responds moving forward to be closer to his father who had taken a turn for the worse. A sad smile crosses his pale lips as he watched his son move closer. Flipping his left ear backwards so he could hear what was going on around them he kept the other on his son and even extended his nose in a loving gesture ”this is something I need to do on my own son. You have your whole life ahead of you, go live it. Don’t worry about your old man”
Alexander accepts his father’s touch but couldn’t help but feel anger towards him. Just because his life fell apart didn’t mean he had to run away.”I have a favor to ask, if you see ceasisus tell her that I now understand that her heart belongs to dixion. And if you see gandy, tell her I’ll be back someday” Sure Lyden felt bad for leaving his queen but with the recent events he just couldn’t bring himself to stay and face the reality that his life had become. you’re acting like a coward just leaving like this! Alex manages to spit out in a fit of anger. “you could stay here and just piece your life back together instead of taking the easy way out”.

A hard breath escapes Lyden’s mouth while frustration burned through every vein in his body.”someday alexander you’ll understand. Until then take care of you and your mom” for a moment Lyden holds his breath waiting for his son to explode on him, perhaps even try to fight him and force him to stay. Alex however can’t hold back his emotions and throws his head up and around to show his disgust for what his father was about to do.”you’re going to make a great leader someday” Alex listens to his father say before Lyden turned and took off into the vast open plains beyond the border of the islands.

That particular conversation often re-ran in his mind over and over like a song skipping on a disk. It has ate at him every minute of every day he had chosen to stay away. Days turned into weeks that led to months. Before he knew it, those precious days turned into not just a year, but at least three of them. He did not believe it had been quite four yet but surely it was close. The thought felt strange to him for he had no emotion behind it. Over the years of his disappearance Lyden had grown from a young stallion who easily over reacted to a quiet stallion who observed more then he spoke.

The scar on his chest from the wolves attacking is no longer then only one on his pale physic. A long deep pink one now tattooed itself to his right hind leg. It started just above his knee and went all the way down to his foot. That one had a humorous story to it, one that he wasn’t sure if anyone would want to know. In his travels he found out that fences with spikes on them were not his friend. A few other scars are littered on his shoulders and back. Lyden had become quite the fighter and even though there are some he lost he had also won just as much if not more.

Shifting his weight from side to side Lyden exhales deeply while sapphire blues watch the inhabitants that now called the forest their home. Jormungandr’s scent is strong still giving Lyden some hope that he would at least see her. Talking probably wouldn’t end up good, she had moved on before he even left. At least this is what he told himself. What really happened is still to be discovered. The wind blew past him making the leaves of the walnut tree he stood under move like a swing. His long tangled mane caught air on the ends but kept still being held down from all the knots that are twisted between the strands. This afternoon the sun is exceptionally bright and tried to blind him. He was unable to see after a while very well and almost missed the golden hide of jormungandr. Instantly his heart started to beat faster but did not pound. The longing to see her for so long had taken a toll on him. His eyes had lost their sparkle but behind his sorrow, held the unspoken faith that he would return and he would at least see her. He smiles now and moves underneath the shade giving him freedom to see more clearly. For a while he just watches her and the foal by her side. The sight made no feelings bubble within him. He figured she wouldn’t have held out for him. And just when he is about to leave he found himself instead, calling to her. It was weak but he hoped it would carry in the wind over to her.
