DANCE OF THORNS: ANY

Jasiri cantered out of the ocean, the white froth of crashing waves running off her speckled body. Her coat glistened and flashed the afternoon sun. She briskly glanced around at her surroundings before continuing further into the wide open plains. Spottings of trees covered the land, but her main goal was a giant, looming waterfall in the distance. Mist rose off of it like a beacon. Her ears flicked eagerly at the sounds of both the pouring waterfall and the battling ocean behind her. She loved the power of water. Everyone in her old herd knew it, and more than once Ennuis had kept them for weeks at large water sources. Maybe that's why she put up with him. Even though he was aggressive and refused to let her name her own child, instead opting to wait a full year before fetching his father to assign a perfectly dull name, he did care. Slightly. She snorted and shook her blonde locks, nearly stumbling in the process.

The old stallion stayed with the herd. Ennuis was strangely protective of him, and her own daughter had actually given up her birth name for that silly, overdue nickname. Jasiri laid her ears against her skull at the thought. Her daughter once possessed so much potential, but betraying her own mother and instead focusing on an old, practically dead stallion? The draft was offended. Not only that, but Nuru snuck away one night to surely come to these Islands. She had named the boy; he was practically her son. And Ennuis made it her mission to fetch him back.

Foolish stallion. He gave her a reason to leave and never return back to that betraying, squishy herd.

The silver slowed her pace as the distance between her and the waterfall threatened to disappear entirely. She stopped at the edge of the giant lake, dipping her head to drink the cool water and examine the horses around her. They all looked so... small. She hoped that maybe she would actually encounter a horse the same height as her in this foreign land, but it looked like she would have to deal with looming over others again. She lifted her muzzle, dripping with crisp beads of water, to sigh.
