I am the razor in the hands of your heart;
And I am the razor in the hands of God.
"Huh?"
It took Evaline a minute to register what had transpired between them in just a few minutes. Perhaps she was too lost in her own thoughts, the palomino mare mentally taking note of all of her children. Like Inka, her offspring too lived everywhere but where she lived. She was thankful that Paradiso still had Shamwari. The last time she'd heard from her daughter she was living in the Bay with a complicated stallion named Nephilim. Evaline rarely thought about Kasabian, let alone fretted over his general health and well being, but today a flicker of his memory returned to the forefront of her mind. For just a second, the palomino mare thought of her once sickly little first born. She thought of the goofy natured stallion he'd become. She never quite understood him and she never could will herself to love him like he deserved, but in that moment, Evaline silently hoped that where ever he was, that he was fine. She always knew he was better off without her.
Evaline is drawn back from her thoughts by Inka voice. She merely smiles as the heavier mare comments on the spirit of their mutual father of their kin. As Inka drops her head to drink from the pool yet again, Evaline surveys the emptying land. Most had fled the Crossing before nightfall. The sun was still in the sky, but it was low, casting a rich orange and pink glow, signaling the last hours of of light for the day. The palomino mare decided in that moment that she wouldn't hurry back to Salem. Instead she'd sleep alone tonight in the Crossing. While Inka's company had helped calm her nerves and even clear her head, she still wasn't in the right mindset to see Avageline, or even Gabbar.
But then Inka spoke again. Rook.
"Rook... is your brother?"
She questioned, almost flabbergasted by this turn of events. It was one thing for her to know Valentine, but another completely to be related to a stallion she had a very enjoyable one night stand with those many years ago. Evaline let out a high pitched laugh at just how absurd this was and smiled gleefully while she looked at Inka. "I guess that makes us family in a way then." Evaline swished her tail over her haunches as she thought about it. "Do you ever see him around?" She laughed again, a little under her breathe. "You should probably know I think he's a big moron. But he did give me Shamwari. So I can't hate him too much."
