This is no ordinary love

She rose onto the shoreline of the common isle with a strong feeling of dread in her bones.

There was a period in her life when she loathed this place beyond any other destination among the islands. It's where she had spent so much time alone, grieving what she thought was the death of Nephilim. She grieved for the fantasy life that had been ripped from her when he left. And she wandered aimlessly, totally self conscious and afraid that no one would ever love her again. That's when Koray found her. If only she knew then what she knows now.

The ashen-colored mare snorted seawater from her soft-skinned nostrils and ambled over the sand dunes and toward the rushing sounds of the falls. Her crystal blue eyes were peeled for the likes of any of her family members -- between Evaline, Shamwari, and Valentine, there were quite a few of her kin among the islands. It was them, after all, who drew her out of her recluse period on Salem. Her relationship with her immediate family was tumultuous at best, and if she ran into one of them now, it was bound to be no different.

Vita Nova was a in a terribly sour mood. She was constantly teetering on the verge of tears and despair and irrational rage and anger. She hated her current situation. She hated Salem. She despised Koray. She missed the Prairie and Valentine and sometimes her brothers and sisters. She missed Orhan. And if she were to run into her brother or mother today, she would absolutely lash out and blame them what she'd done to herself.

Vita Nova drops her petite head to drink delicately from the cool pool of water surrounding the falls. There she stands silently, taking in the mist and the drowning sounds of the water, trying not to think of the repercussions ahead of her if Koray finds out she'd left his keep and was out galavanting on her own.
